Just recd call from: 888-806-9074. They left no message. I obtained the name of the caller, Ascention Point. I looked up their name and found this website.Thank you! Beware of the above number too!
Call from a woman who didn't immediately identify herself or her company. She said that she was calling about a relative who died last year - but named the wrong relative. She had the name of a relative who is still very much alive, and then asked if I knew "the late XXXXX." Very creepy, completely threw me off guard. I didn't give her any other information to go on, but I'm very glad I found this site to verify that this was just a scammer. Thanks, 800notes.
Calls came through several months after my husband's death. Asking to speak to someone who had the authority to talk to them about his estate. She claimed there were unpaid debts. Told her I get all the mail and every bill gets paid when it is supposed to get paid and there were no outstanding debts. She insisted that there were. I called my attorney and he told me to just ignore them. After several more calls from them I asked to talk to this person's supervisor. Someone else came on the line and reassured me that they were a legitimate company - (they even had a BBB logo on their site). I told her I believed that she thought they were a legitimate company - but I wanted her to go home that night and Google the company name - when it came up I wanted her to scroll down to the phone # she was calling from and then to read the "miles" and "miles" of complaints about Ascension Point - going back several years and then tell me if she believes they are legitimate. I never heard from them again. I also called all other family members to warn them about this.
BEWARE - 888-420-2510 belongs to Ascension Point and they try to collect money from the estates/relatives of deceased people for credit card accounts that are delinquent. The account they call about may be a valid delinquent account, but most likely does not belong to the person who is deceased. They use the probate filings to find relatives of deceased individuals and prey on your sympathy to get money for a debt that doesn't belong to your relative. They tried this with me, had a valid acct that was sold by Bank of America to a collection agency 10 years ago. BOA cannot identify who the account holder was, only who they sold the account to. I told Ascension POint they were scaming me, but if they were legitimate to contact our attorney, gave them his name and number and told them to contact him about resolving the debt. Also, told them to send me and our attorney a copy of every letter sent to my mother, and all documentation on the matter.
Got call from these scammers saying unknown person owed money. Guess they call anyone (not me) whom they think is kin... Don't fall for such person who calls from 888 scammers!!!
Got call today from these scammers inquiring about estate of a person unknown to me. Guess they somehow thought would fall for their scam
This is a lie. I got a call from them today about a women I was acquainted with, NOT related to. I refused to give the jerk any information because frankly it's none of his god damn business.
A completely estranged mother-in-law died in 2015 at the age of 86 and "whitney" called today looking for someone who is responsible for her financial matters. LOL!!! I told her, "Good luck with that!" and hung up. There are sturdy reasons that I have had nothing to do with that family for years. Sure would like to know how "Ascension Point" got my phone number, though.
That is a terrific solution! I laughed! I once did a similar thing to someone from Verizon - who I didn't know was from Verizon - who called every other day right after lunch time. She thought nothing of this, until I let her know that there were dozens of people across the Internet complaining about her telemarketing! Never heard from her again.
