Saw "Incoming" on cell phone alot recently - so don't answer it. This time they left a message - Tabitha @ Millimen(spelling?) Student Loan services - they were looking for Scott someone and left this phone number 888 486 4722 to call back - I called and couldn't get a person but the computer kept asking for my account # or SS# and so hung up.
This is Nelnet's number. I work for the company, and you should call back if they leave a message and it is not for you, otherwise they will continue to call until you tell them they have an incorrect number. If whomever previously had your number years ago when they applied for student loans, they are able to call this back in an attempt to make contact if they have lost contact. I also think Nelnet bought out SACU, so this is why it could appear as that on your ID.
I agree with the last caller. These guys did a reverse address lookup on the house I just bought to get my phone number, and then started robocalling me with these harrassing calls for the former resident. No way to reach a human to ask them to stop. Where's Jared Loughner when you need him ?
This number is from Nelnet, they are collections for student loans. So far to us they haven't been ugly just persistant. A number they left us was 866-763-5638 for contacting them, haven't called it but might be another avenue to contact them.
That number worked and they were very nice--no recording-got a LIVE person! Took the number down that they were calling, confirmed that the person they were looking for was not at the number and said they would remove the number from their call list. Only time will tell if they really do though. Thanks!
Call 866-763-5638 and speak to a LIVE person! When they ask for your account or SS number, just nicely tell then that you don't have an account with them, but are getting erroneous calls from them. They will ask you for the number that you have received the calls on, then for confirmation that the person (they will give a name) whom they are trying to reach is not at the number. Then your number will be taken off their call list.
Just tried to call that number 866-763-5638. The guys was nice and I was not rude but the guy that answered wants my full social security number to verify. I told him there ain't a chance in hell that I am going to do that. I said I want some one higher up to take the number off He said with out a SS number they can't do remove my number and my name is not in their system. Told him that if I continue to recieve calls from their company which I have never had an account with EVER and have had the same phone number and address for 30 years; which is a first account provided line. I would seek legal and criminal actions against them. Lucky this state takes this stuff seriously and actively goes after these scammers
I got a call from this number this afternoon and they left a message with a contact number for my ex-daughter-in-law. I called them (Nelnet) and since I don't have an account or ss number I clicked on "0" for the operator. Someone finally came on the phone and I informed them that they were looking for my ex-daughter-in-law that I hadn't seen or heard from her in 7 or 8 years and she had never lived with me and this was my phone number for the last 20 years. I told them to stop calling this number looking for her and was told they would remove my name and number from their records. We'll see.
I spoke to them told them I had applied for a forbearanc, they informed me that I had exceeded my request for a forbearance. I was never notified of either (my request & the new rule of limited forbearances). I was told I could apply to have my amount reduced...I asked if they could debit since my schedule at work didn't permit time during business hour to change the necessary information to reduce the money due...I was told no-I'd have to do it myself. That was a week ago....I haven't had the chance to do it. I find myself stressing about this situation as well as the possibility of losing my non-profit employment. I was instructed to makes changes via internet but I'm at work average 11/12 hrs a day I have a slow internet access (took 15 mins to load chat with agent)....they keep calling my senior parents & I've chased my # many times! I'm flustered stressed and right down depressed about this situation. Being with not being notified of any changes made regarding my account...Any suggestions?
