It's weird. I received a call from this number at my office to a land line phone, and 20 minutes later my cell phone got a call from the same number. I called back but the number is disconnected.
perhaps it's building a phone list? Just calls to see if it receives an error message and then hands up. (Would make sense for it to call a whole city at a time)As i just got this and I'm in Seattle, WA
Same thing happened to me. Got call around 15:48 EST on my office phone. One ring and disconnected. Tried calling back and it says that its disconnected. Weired!! Googled the number and it led me to this thread.
Approx 3:45 CST the phone rang once and didn't leave a message. I checked caller ID and I Googled the number. This site came up. The name said "New Jersey"
got a call from this number at 4:40pm est on my work phone. don't know who it is so i won't answer it...we have been getting a lot of wierd phone calls from a 239# as well.
Wasn't home when I got the call at 6:25pm on a sunday. Of course it was disconnected when I tried to return the call. We've only had our new number for a few weeks as we just switched to Vonage, and not very many people have it. We're in Louisiana, didn't notice anyone else from here with the problem.
I checked this number out through my providers, and although the number is an active number, I can also not recieve the owner's ID, except that they have over 8 numbers to there name. They either "forward" their number TO a non-published number so callers cannot reach them back, (a common cleaver trick), or they have a device which fools or deverts the ANI Automatic Numbering Information, a bell provider's method of identifing comm. data from one swithcing office to another. BUT that's the story on this number. Also although the number oridiganates in Little Falls NJ, it can be utilized and/or accessed through a remote T-1 service anywhere in the country... So good luck, make sure you are all on the Do Not Call lists and remember, you can request your bell provider to BLOCK frequent annoying numbers....BFN Phone man/tech
