1111111111 they told me it was to receive a govt grant, but that I had to call back 202-683-9664
Got a call from this #, i do not have comcast. It came up under a friends name, so this shows me that they're getting into a cellphone addressbook, sound like a felony to me.........
Found out these are from comcast and they are checking to see if your number is active. If it is, it goes on a list that is sold to telephone marketers. They don't get paid if the numbers aren't active. Now you know why comcast only allows you to block twelve numbers if you have their phone service. The company should be put out of business. remember their motto: We are comcast and we don't care, because we don't have to.
they called me and told me they were windows technology support, and the did some things to my computer. probably installed viruses.
I just answered the phone for this number and waited until someone came on the line to tell them to never call this f#$%^&g number again and he said "I'm sorry!" and then I hung up. I'll see if he keeps calling me now.
There are at least two options for those bothered by people originating these offensive calls:1. Go to www.fcc.com and click on the electronic complaint form, filling out each of the entries (takes about two minutes), identifying the date and time of the unwanted call(s), any identifying information from Caller ID ("Unavailable" is a valid entry), your number where the call was received and your name, street and email addresses. The FCC will immediately respond with an email to you, identifying the file number assigned to your complaint. If everyone filed these complaints to the FCC, that deluge will prompt an investigation and likely a fine on the calling party.2. I followed a recommendation from a comment listed elsewhere on 800Notes, where that person was extremely frustrated over calls from a number different than 111-111-1111 (as the above folks obviously are) and purchased a DIGITONE Call Blocker from www.digitone.com Three features attracted my interest: a) I now can block up to 80 specific telephone numbers, b) This device has "First Ring Supression." meaning that you will not even hear the first ring!!, c) you can block entire area codes, a feature that can be used to block all 800, 866, 877, etc. numbers or those from specific (not toll-free) numbers. There may be other devices available, too. I saw immediate success with the one I purchased.Silence can be Golden!!Even so, I regularly report annoying/illegal/robo calls, etc. to the FCC. Now that I also use the DIGITONE device these annoying calls have been greatly reduced in number.Seeing 15 pages of complaints, I wish to point out that complaining alone won't stop these calls. Filing a complaint with the FCC should prompt an Out Of Areainvestigation, identification of the originator of those calls, and fining.
I don't think this is a COMCAST courtesy call as couple of people have said. Have received several calls, none of which we answered. They usually hang-up. But, on one call, the live dummy, not realizing that an answering machine has picked up, started to say 'This is a motor corporation ..." Realizing that he was talking to a machine, he swore and hung up. Got to be another scam.
I'm from Montreal. I just rreceived a call from 1111111111. I did not answer. They did not leave voicemail. When I don't recognize a number I Will not answer. I suggest you do the same. Better safe than sorry. Stay safe.
