The trick to getting it close to stopped is to not just report the call to the DNC but to also fine a formal complaint on-line with the FCC. It seems to work for me.
These callers have a machine that randomly dials phone numbers. All you can do is block the phone number. If they call from "unknown" than there is nothing you can do.
Just got a call from this number funny thing I've had my phone 2 days - they asked for me by name - tell me did AT&T sell my info, I think so.
Did not pick up cell phone call. Have been told that answering just lets caller know that this is a working cell # and they can then sell it to other solicitors? If I don't recognize # or it comes up blocked, I just don't answer. The DNC list seems to be useless, so I just ignore it.

I second 110% that the key to stopping these calls is to not only file a complaint with the DNC but also and more importantly, the FCC. They are the muscle behind which violations are enforced. I have had good experience and much luck with them stopping calls that I had been receiving up to 10 times a day. The key is that your number has to be registered on the DNC in order for them to proceed with a case. Their hands are tied otherwise. It may seem futile and pointless but I will take an inconvenient (albeit illegal and criminal) call once or twice a month any day over 10 a day. They will be effective in shutting down and going after the biggest offenders if you notify the FCC. They can only go after those violators of which they are aware. Please take the time to file with them.
I get calls from this number at my cell phone but they dont talk and when I try to call back they say the number is UNREACHABLE.
