I just got a call from this number. I didn't answer and they left no VM. I live in 217 area code and have my iWireless Service thru Kroger.

You called them 50 times and they are the ones that need to get a life eh??

Just got a call from them. Didn't answer since it was a "Washington, D.C." area code and I don't have anybody from there in my Contacts. But from reading these comments, it is pretty apparent they are phishing for real phone numbers as others have surmised.Have been getting a lot of these unsolicited calls lately (about 1 every day or every other day) - not sure what caused that uptick. Used to be maybe once every couple of weeks.Anyway, I'm in Texas and on Republic Wireless.

I have told them to stop calling. I have also "hit the #2 key to stop the calls" I told them to stop or I would sue.

Here is a heads up to anyone getting calls from numbers they do not recognize including this one. If you answer the call or call back the number, your phone is automatically activated as a "valid" number and you will be targeted for all kinds of bogus calls. This is how scammers get "active" phone numbers. They then sell the good numbers to anyone and now your number will be targeted for every crank call out there. I have a good friend that works at the State Attorney's office and they are cracking down on these scammers. They said the best way to stop the calls is not to answer and don't call back. Register the number with the State Attorney in your area, re-register or register with the "Do Not Call" registry and if you can, block the number from your phone. The last suggestion works loosely since somehow these scammers manage to get different phone numbers all around the U.S. It does help a bit though. Some of these crank calls leave threatening messages to try and get a phone call back. No reputable business will do that. If a threatening message is left on your phone, save it and report it to the authorities. And, use blogs like this to see if others are also getting calls from the same number and join in the blog. Great way to see how many others are harassed by the same number and is documented evidence of scams.
