This is followup to my original post. Still haven't gotten any delivery. No additional calls. Very suspicious. Sounds more like spoofed number trying to see who is home. Totally agree with Resident47.
Fascinating thread. First off, this number belongs to Amazon (and/or their associated delivery services). I got two calls while I was sleeping and when I woke up I had a push notification from Amazon saying my package was delivered. I Googled the phone number, bringing me to this thread, and it makes complete sense that it was the driver calling as he made the delivery. The conspiracy theories about "South Asians" and spammers, while entertaining to read, are ridiculous. Even IF spammers on occasion utilize this number for some nefarious purpose (as if by answering your phone you're giving them your Social Security and CC numbers), then isn't every phone number in existence called into question? Perhaps you shouldn't answer the phone next time your Mom calls...it just might be those oh-so-clever Spammers™ spoofing her phone number. Then there's the matter of everyone being a "shill" if they don't agree that there's a cabal of spammers out there that apparently are diverting our attention by delivering Amazon packages to our doorsteps.Hopefully I've fallen for some first-class trolling, but either way this number belongs to Amazon and whether or not it's ever been spoofed before doesn't change that. Also, WiFi is actually a mind control mechanism implemented by Lizard People.
I second the thank you! Holiday season leads to a lot of weird calls for me, and I had no idea it was about my Amazon Prime Now order.
This was an Amazon courier. Phone was ringing and my dog was barking in the yard. I ignored the phone and went to check on my dog then saw the delivery guy on the phone outside my fence. This is a call I normally wouldn't have answered (and probably blocked) because caller ID only said Seattle WA.
Was Amazon delivery. I wasn't home, and have a gated house with a dog. Delivery person asked if I was comfortable with him tossing the package over the yard and was concerned about the dog chewing on it. I told him the package wasn't fragile and that he could do so. Package was in the yard (and thankfully unchewed on!) when I got home.So yeah, if you're expecting an Amazon delivery and have a gated house or are in a secure apartment complex, answer this number; it's your delivery person trying to get you your package. From my understanding, if they're unable to make contact, and feel uncomfortable leaving your package at the door (if you're in a sketchy neighborhood or area with a high visibility and lots of foot-traffic), they'll have to return the package back to the warehouse and get someone else to deliver it later.
Our business has a secure package drop off area. A sign on our door says to go to the next office over to have them BUZZ open the door to the secure area. Amazon Local drivers don't know how to read, apparently, because 9 times out of 10 they call saying that they can't get in. READ THE SIGN YOU DUMMY.
