I answered the call and they asked for me by name and where they could leave my package. Not a scam. If you ordered from Amazon, you should definitely answer this so you get your item.
Got a call early this morning while I was still in bed. Although I am expecting a package today, I know I have never given Amazon my phone # and why would they call from Seattle when my package shipped from Toronto this morning and I also live in Toronto? Doesn't add up to me.
Yes, would seem you are right. People here are saying it's Amazon Prime delivery driver? Got this call this morning and I do not have Prime membership and Amazon does not have my phone # (Just double checked my account info)
And your post isn't? I order from Amazon all the time and they have NEVER called me, so stuff THAT in your sock drawer!
The amazon/courier caller did not leave a message. In this day of so many scam calls, it would be best to leave a message, or your caller ID should indicate something more than "unknown", as I will continue to not answer unidentified callers.Sorry scammers have ruined it.
This thread is bananas! I never answer calls I don't recognize and always check 800 notes after out of curiosity. When I saw some folks say it was Amazon I tried to call back but the call wouldnt go through. I went outside and lo and behold an amazon delivery driver was standing outside my locked front gate with a package. And for those saying they weren't expecting packages until days later, neither was I, but in this case my order shipped sooner - not exactly something to complain about...I use Amazon all the time and this was the first time I got a call, but as others have noted, if you tell Amazon your package never arrived they send a new one no questions asked, which surely leads to a lot of fraud. I admittedly once complained about a non-delivery (PlayStation controller) and received a new one the next day only to later find the original one tucked away in the bushes by my front porch (my bad!) It's clearly a new service and given that Amazon doesn't have one standard courier, it probably varies from courier to courier. People need to chill the eff out. Nobody can scam you over the phone unless you're stupid enough to give out personal information. If you're convinced the whole world is out to screw you, don't answer the phone. If you're even mildly suspicious, don't answer and you'll probably still get your package anyway. But hot damn, relax and just try to appreciate an attempt to provide decent customer service. Bottom line: I didn't answer this call, googled it, saw it was Amazon, went outside and confirmed that it was in fact them, then came here to ease the minds of other phone-averse people.
Caller claimed to be from Amazon but called me four days before delivery was due. He asked for my name and my address. I refused to give it to him. He then called back from 877-252-2701 and again I refused to give my name and address. He was slightly aggressive and stated that he would send me an email which I would have to answer. I never received an email. My package was delivered uneventfully four days later. Driver did not know anything about any problem with my address, etc.
So it is legitimate number . You should NOT block or hang up. Amazon is trying to have a driver deliver your package.
