I just had the EXACT same thing happen to me!! I asked her what card it was in relation to, and she said MasterCard.. I said I didn't have MasterCard, or a credit card. And she immediately hung up.
just got call on cell. did not answer, left no msg. immediately blocked caller on cell. calling AT&T to report. also on DNC registry for all the good that does. hope they go f**k themselves!The caller was identified as unknown
I'm puzzled by the people that say they don't answer the phone when they don't recognize the number - but, call back immediately. What is the point? How many people actually expect calls from out of state?BTW - writing "stop calling me" on this site is completely useless. Those scammers are not reading this nor is your number posted for reference. This is just allowing consumers to get the word out so that there are not more innocent people hurt. So - KUDOS for one element of the internet.
Sorry, hit send too early... The Do Not Call list does NOT block spammers from calling. Companies are basically on the honor system not to bother you if you are on the list. What the list does is provides legal and financial penalties to companies that continue to call in violation of Do Not Call.
I'd also like to add to your puzzled. People who say they blocked the call, but then call it back.
just now received a call from this number and did not answer for the reason of there being scammers. if I don't know the area code I will most likely not answer. I also did not know about this website until I searched the area code and the Google search popup was "207 area code scams". thank you for this website very helpful for all. do not answer if called from this number.
