These "AT&T" or "ATT" calls are sourced out of India--which explains some of the late hour times U.S. "marks" are getting calls from these scumbags. These tele-scammers are working for a well funded set of organized criminals; they know your residence AND cell phone numbers. This is evidence whoever these scammers work for, bought a top shelf "hot sheet"--a scammer telephone directory listing of thousands of U.S. residental homes; these hot sheets can demand price tags of $180,000. Getting spoofed phone number shielding to hide phone call actual location costs quite a lot, too. My guess is the scammers work for mafia-type organized criminals, who make million dollar profits in other sleazy forms of business...like human trafficking and / or illegal drug distribution. The best thing you can do is IGNORE these "AT&T" or "ATT" calls; let your voicemail machine handle them. Every unanswered call they get costs them big tiime; eventually the scammers will give up.
These calls originate from India--which explains why you get their calls at night ( when it's lunch time over there ). All they're seeking are social security numbers---and credit card numbers, if they think they can pull that from you. Their prime targets are the unsuspecting elderly American citizen. These tele-scammers are well funded by million dollar profiting organized crime outfits that dabble into human sex trafficking and global illegal drug distribution. And they pay upwards of $100,000 USD for phone directories that contain information about you....likely gathered from online shopping and/or website information sharing. The spoofed phone lines are what concerns me: Evidence dirty corrupt American AT&T employees have under-table sold these spoof lines to these criminals OVERSEAS. Which means--source locations of these tele-scammers may be in cold war countries.....like China, Russia.....even Cuba. And if that's true, then Homeland Security better get on the ball and stop these slugs. For the past 5 years, I've made it a practice to IGNORE strange Caller ID numbers---let my answerig machine handle them. And today, it works like a charm. Every unanswered scammer call is money wasted; the slugs eventually get wise and move on.
Actually Wally, you have plenty of reasons to be concerned: 1) The calls are sourced from India. The scammer team there bought a spoofed U.S. overseas call line--likey from a corrupt AT&T employee--probably cost them $25k. 2) The scammer team evidently bought a top shelf "hot sheet" phone directory, a massive U.S. phone directory of thousands of potential "marks". This "hot sheet" not only contains your home number---but ALL active cell phone numbers purchased under AT&T ( also likely purchased by corrupt AT&T employees ). Tele-scammer "hot sheets" can cost thieves up to $150k to $180k USD easily; global scale tele-scamming is mega-million dollar business. 3) It's fair to assume this "hot sheet" may also have your residential address listing as well. But here's the huge concern: Actual locations of these tele-scammer calls may come from countries hostile towards the U.S.!! I once got a tele-scammer, who called me from Havana, Cuba!! I've heard of such calls comming in to the U.S. from North Korea!! So, I'm wondering what Homeland Security is doing to protect us from these thugs???Let your voice mail answering machine handle ANY strange un-recognizable calls. Every unanswered call is money wasted by these tele-thieves. Eventually, they'll stop calling you.
This particular tele-scammer team is calling the U.S. from India--despite the spoof mask of the number appearing sourced from the U.S. Records here of their activity go back to 2011.The cost of operating these global tele-scammer jobs is expensive--so every unanswered call they make is money wasted.Let your answering machine / voicemail handle them; eventually, they will give up.
This tele-scammer team hails from India---and they have at least 4 active spoofed connection lines to the U.S. ( each one likely costing them $25k, likely sold to them by a corrupt AT&T employee ). They also have "hot sheet" information about your home AND cell phone numbers; I'm guessing they bought the "hot sheet" from corrupt AT&T employees as well. This scam team has recorded activity on this site, dating back to 2011.The scary thing about spoofed phone lines isn't just how clever ( or not ) they appear on Caller ID coming from within the U.S., but from WHERE EXACTLY these spoofed calls come from. I've got a tele-scammer call from Havana, Cuba!! And I've heard some tele-scammer calls actually hail from North Korea!!If that's true: Then I'm wondering why Homeland Security and Interpol haven't made efforts to shut these lines down? I want to see TV news reports of tele-scammers being caught, arrested and dragged off to jail in handcuffs.
Caller ID showed "Name not Found", Caller started out as" I'm such and such from the technical department", and I stated "well I'm brian and I don't want to hear from you again", and hung up. I immediately blocked their call.If this is ATT, then they should know better, as there are alot of scammers out there, that start out the same way.
Why do you assume it is AT&T just because they say so? Do you think scammers can't claim to be AT&T or some other company? Do you think they can't falsify caller id. Obviously it is not a real AT&T call, they are phishing to get your info. People are SO gullible.
These scammers need to be dealt with by the FTC. They are impersonating ATT and I cannot believeATT or the states attorneys general do not come down on them. They make daily calls every quarter whichI do not answer. If you do answer, they probably sell the fact that you answered and the time you were hometo whoever, including potential burglars.
How many times are you going to type that same message Bob? This is not AT&T. It is ATT. Scammers. They quit calling me for awhile but have started in again. They've called 4 times today so far.
