I find it amazing that one of my computers in the offices gets one of those Fake Anti-virus programs that locked down my computer, and a day later I get a call from India trying to sell me support to remove the Virus on my Windows machine.I played dumb and told the guy I had a google chrome book and he didn't believe me that It was running without windows. The number looked real on the caller Id 234 567 890, but after looking at it a second time. Obviously a spoofed number.
Just got a call from 234-567-809, guy sounded nigerian or african, thick accent, wanted me know if I was using Windows operating system which I wouldn't tell him. Asked him why he was calling several times. He kept going back to the script to get info. Clearly a scam. As others have stated he would try and get you to install a program on your computer that they could access. Don'y give them any information. Hang up. SCAM!!!!!
Just left post on another site re: received call on my mobile number from the spoofed 234-567-809 number. Chap on other end had an East Indian accent. Background noise/chatter leads me to conclude that he was in a boiler-room phone bullpen. Stated that he could help my "windows registered computer". Would not answer simple questions and I sensed that he was leading to the "we have a program that we wish to install to fix your computer" pitch - I ended the call. Same warning as the other messages on this blog: its a scam - hang up.
This number +1 (234) 567-809 Salem, OH keeps trying to call our business line and as it is diverted to my mobile I am now seeing the number and not answering it
This moron tried to tell me that my computer was loaded with viruses. He hung up after I called him a liar and a scammer.
Just got the call from 234-567-809. The woman said that my computer is reporting that I have a virus. Windows operating system was reporting it. They had a download for me to fix the problem. I asked which computer they were talking about. Got the "the one that has Window operating system on it." answer. Finally I just said to email me the information and hung up.
Consistently getting calls from this 234-567-809 number, says Salem, OH. I never pick up because they have never left me a message, but it is getting obnoxious.
I keep getting calls from someone with a heavy Indian accent stating that my computer will crash and they are calling for Microsoft ...on my cell number! The number is actually 1 234-567-809. I called Microsoft and they said it is a scam!
I received the same call but was bored and played their game. I only have macs so I pretended to use my computer. He had me go to the command prompt by pressing window key and r. Then he asked me to type in some things.....I pretended to do it of course asking him to repeat things a millions times. I then said my screened showed for letters and I asked him to write them down...S....C.....A.....M. After the third time he finally understood. He proceeded to talk bad about my mother etc and used explicit language. I congratulated him on learning how to read. I also let him know a little about his own knowledge and mother. I hope he calls back. That was fun!
These people are from India and they are selling Viagra, Cialis and other medication that are manufactured there and they sell it here at a very cheap price. I made the mistake of calling them one day a year ago. I heard an ad on 1010WINS news radio about purchasing these drugs cheaply. I called 800-908-5260 and placed an order to see what it was all about. That started a landslide of calls from 234-567-890. They come through as SALEM OHIO on the caller ID because that is the area code and exchange of Salem, OH. But they are disguising the phone number. When I placed my initial order I was told to call 800-276-9121 if I did not receive my medication. It took well over a month for it to come to me in a tiny brown box with all stamps from India. I had to sign for the parcel at the Post Office. This is a nightmare as my pleas to stop fall upon deaf ears, yet they insist and try to engage you in a conversation. If I could reach out and smack them over the phone, I would!
