I've gotten many calls from the "your computer has a virus" scammers and I always enjoy speaking with them. So much so, that I called them at 347-338-2307 and after the wonderful hold music (pit bull I think it was??), i was connected with a heavily accented man who gave a western name. I told him someone called me and told me there was a problem with my computer. He said he will take my phone number and will have one of their tech support reps call me back tomorrow. I told him they needed to call me back immediately as I was going to just take my computer to the Geek Squad and have them fix it. He said he will have someone call me right away. And they did. The number that called was 239-300-7107. First heavily accented man I spoke with said his name was "Bill" and he transferred me to another tech agent who claimed his name was "Paul". He proceeded to walk me through the entire spiel of pulling up the "error log". He said my computer had sent them this log and they were going to help me. I never once even turned on my computer but he got all the way through his 15 minute long scam. I told him it showed over 100 errors. He said oh no, that is really bad, and he can help fix it. He directed me to a website gbmtechsupport.com and that's where I just started talking to him as I was not going to go any further with the scam. I wasted 20 minutes of their time (and mine but I was just having some beers with friends and it gave us all a good laugh). Best part, he said they were located in Bloomington, Indiana. He told me it is very cold there and he is wearing a jacket. He could not tell me what states border Indiana and he refused to give me his educational credentials. I asked him how much money he makes off the scam and how he sleeps at night knowing he's scamming people. He disconnected the call. I had some fun with it but I feel very sorry for those who fall for this scam. It's terrible what they do to people. The least I could do was give him crap and waste a bit of his time. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
