I am on the no-call list and have received seven calls in a week. I have caller ID and will not pick-up when called unless I know the caller. STOP calling!

I've gotten these calls too, sometimes daily. I only picked up recently, and as everyone else said, no one responded. Does anyone have any idea why they would call and say nothing if they're trying to raise money?

If they are non-profit, the do not call registry doesn't apply. If they are scammers, it sure as heck won't apply.

I got two calls from this number today. They are raising $$ for The Human Rights Coalition.... It is a pro Gay Marriage group. One would think that they would cover women and other minorities... NOT it is a pro gay rights group.

I have gotten 20 0r so calls and when I call the main office there is an extension to call to be removed from their call list but the flipping mailbox is fll so you can not leave a message and these calls go my cell phone!

Even if you are on the do not call list charities and political organizations can still call you. I tried to complain and was told this.

Jen, they are using Robo Dialers which dials several calls at the same time. As soon as one of the called, answers the phone, all of the others are disconnected. So, when you pick up your phone, it sounds like they hung up on you.....which the machine actually did.... I agree with you in that I don't see how in the world these people can expect anyone to do business with them when they use this method which is down right harassment. Robo calling is illegal in most states, yet many still do it. ,

name, who ever told you that is not quite telling the whole story as outlined in the FTC frequently asked A&As. It all depends on whether they are the actual 1st party charity calling or a 3rd party calling on behalf of the charity. 1st party charities are indeed exempt, however 3rd party callers are Telemarketers who are calling on behalf of a charity, accepting compensation for their work, therefore are NOT exempt and are subject to the rules of the DNC. If you tell them to cease and desist with their calls, and they refuse, they are subject to a $16,000.00 fine by the Federal Trade Commission.FYI, there are also others besides charities and political who are exempt. There are also circumstances that dictates when a non-exempt telemarketer can legally call you, until you tell them to cease. You can go to the DNC/FTC and read a whole bunch of interesting facts that most who post here don't know. It can explain why lots of "I'm One the Do Not Call List" complaints go for naught.
