My wife is getting calls from them claiming issues with student loans. She doesn't have student loans.
Automatic dialers routinely load all possible line numbers for each exchange code within an area code. I used to work in market research, and the dialers were set up to target a specific state or region with all possible phone numbers loaded into it, depending on the survey. Numbers that didn't answer or were out of service were dropped from the load before it rolled around again, or the interviewers making the call could manually delete them. This was before the DND list, so not sure if individual numbers are screened first these days but scammers like these likely don't care and it's probably totally automated. The best advice is to never answer calls you don't recognize -- if it's someone who really wants to reach you, they will leave a message but if you answer you are merely confirming yours is an active number.

I called Frontiers official phone number 1-800-921-8105, the agent I spoke to gave me this scammer number, they pretend to be frontier and offer a rebate and ask you to provide your bank account info to “send” the rebate. I hung up
