A "research" company. Called 5 days in a row asking for someone and then stating they will try back later, when that person isn't available. Told them yesterday to take us off the list, called again today (different person). I told them this time, and explained that I was recording the call, to take us off this list.
Caller didn't respond until after the 2nd "hello?" I hung up on her before she could say much more than her overenthusiastic, "Oh, hello! How are...." Defintely a cold call of some type.
Received a call from (310) 594-5714 Saturday afternoon 9-6-14. Lady spoke at one hundred miles an hour eventually asking me if I'd like to take a survey of political issues. In a calm, clear and collected voice, I asked her to repeat everything she had just said lol. She again, as if time were an issue, raced through her intro to which I asked her to repeat again because I didn't understand lol. She then, slower than at first, stated that she was from Venture Data and her name was Katie McClelland. I, once again, slowed her down by asking her to spell her name lol. I continued to slow her down while writing all pertinent information lol. She eventually stated that Venture Data had been hired by NBC and the Wall Street Journal to take political polls across the country and would take approximately 20 minutes. She then asked me if I was over 18 years of age to which I informed her that I don't give out any personal information over the phone. She then assured me that this information was necessary to complete the poll as age groups over 35 had already been completed. I replied by stating that it was my policy to never give any personal information over the phone as that would be foolish. She then stated that I would not be able to participate in the poll and thanked me. At that point I just couldn't hold in my clam chuckles. She eventually hung up.I used to get very upset over these non-solicited telemarketers and the like to the point where I would give myself a headache. I finally realized that I was only hurting myself so I turned the whole situation around. I troll um! The longer I keep them on the line, the more laughs I get. Laughing makes me feel good, so I win.Sincerely,John Q. Public
Because Venture Data L.L.C. is strictly a data collection company and does not engage in telemarketing or telephone solicitation of any kind, they are exempt from adherence to the National Do Not Call Registry. As a courtesy to those who wish not to be contacted for telephone surveys, they allegedly maintain an internal voluntary Do Not Call List though they won’t tell you that over the phone. If you would like to add your phone number to this internal Do Not Call List, navigate to the address below to submit your phone number to have it excluded from future projects.www.venturedata.com/NoCallList.htmSincerely,John Q.
