According to another website, a couple spanish speakers got the call ... they all say it's a tele-scammer trying to get your bank-info. Although it says it's from Monroe LA, it's really international. One person traced it to netherlands (?), another person from outside the US even got a call from the number.Anyway, they say that you won a prize and need to give them your bank info to collect. One person said:"They say in spanish that youve been selected to recive a trip and 3000 dollars... but to recive the prize you must give youre bank information wene you ask how mush its going to cost to recive the prize, she hangs up dont give any information out...you will be sorry if you do."

I got a call from this number,as well and I didn't answer. Called back and it said the number is no longer in service.

I also got a call fromt his number and same sapnish recording... what is going on?

received the call at 12:10 this afternoon from 318-998-9988...didn't answer.

I just got a call from the number too. I picked up and it was a tape recording of someone speaking Spanish with static in the background. Strange.

They've called twice now. First at 10:11am CST (didn't answer); then again at 12:26pm CST. I picked up the second time, and it was a non-responsive recording in Spanish, which disconnected itself after it played. There goes one of my Anytime Minutes... :(AT&T Wireless carrier here, FYI.

Yeah. I just got hit with one (May 6, 08 @ 1:40 ET) on my Verizon cellphone.

Me: At&T (Texas) & I am from Shreveport with family all over the area.Inbound: Same # as everyone else (that's why we're on this discussion thread), 3189989988Answered: caller in Spanish. I *think* I made out the words "eight" & "here"... very fast talker. I heard the applause as well.Phone # provider: CenturyTel & this NXX is switched out of Monroe (all of Northern Louisiana is a 318 area code, it's the next three that refine where the region is).Tried to call it back but (like y'all) got an error recording.I would like to know for sure what the background on this scam is, but yeah... the Simpson's episode where Homer gets the AT-5000 Autodialer is what came to mind for me as well.
