The same thing just happened to me I an very glad I googled and thank you all have shared to help avoid this happening to anyone else
Steven Futoran emailed me this today from this email addressstevhopefut@gmail.comHello,Thanks for the response, My name is Steven Futoran. I am buying this as a surprise to someone very dear to me and I want to keep it that way(AS A SURPRISE) until delivery day. I am currently working at a rural area with Turner Const. which makes it very hard for me to make phone calls due to bad network reception here. I will not be able to view it so please get back to me with more pics. I have a Mover who will come for the pickup and also I will be making the payment via PayPal as that is the only payment option I can access from here I hope you understand. I have some questions for you;Are you the first owner of it?Where do you live? What is your final asking price ?Does it have anything negative i should know about?Hope to read back from you soon.....Regards FutoranThe phone number he used for initial contact is 919 964-4819
Received two scammer text responses within hour of posting furniture for sale. First number 857-219-4521 bailed pretty quickly when I requested they email a different email address that was not my paypal email. The second, 727-756-9515, went back and forth a while, actually email my gmail account, I sent pics to further the discussion. Then his offer to pay via Paypal before he(Rick Futoran) received any of the pictures was confirmation. Just like Sue said above.....
This scum bag has been trolling me for some furniture. It is always a give away, when someone tells you they don't trust talking on a particular website....This jerk wants my phone number and eMail address....his name is Steve Futoran.THANK YOU for looking after us.J
I received the same email, from Rick Futoran (but noticed last name was misspelled in email address; rickfutran@gmail.com):My name is Rick, I want to buy this as a surprise but I can only pay through PayPal if that is acceptable. Send me some closeup pics because I won't be able to see it myself due to nature of my job( Submarine Engineer ). Pickup will be after your account is credited and I have a hauler who will come for the pickup at your preferred location once payment is confirmed. I have few questions1. What is your last price ?2. Any negative things I should know ?3. Where do you live ?Email back to know if my offer is accepted so that we can proceed, I hope to hear from you soonRegardsIt seemed odd he was so anxious to pay. His next email was more of the same:Thanks for the details and time, i want you get back to me with your paypal email address for me to make the payment and also the pickup address to forward to the hauler who will be coming for the pickup once the payment is made and cleared.I need your number for me to text you when through with the paymentThanks i will be waiting for your response.....The poor grammar and misspelling raised some red flags, so I googled his name and found this. Thanks for posting!!
It is time that this guy is caught as he and others of course tarnish sites such as Craigslist. I received text from this guy on three occasions trying to pull the same scam. All are out of state and will send someone to pick up item, and you send extra payment to pick up company. I have even received a fake certified check from him on a legitimate credit Union in Florida. Thankfully, he has not completed his scam successfully.
