They keep calling despite my requests that they stop. I guess the only solution is to change my cell number or to list the number on the contact list and specify a "silent ring" or perhaps a quiet ring as in "swish" on iPhone then ignoring the calls.
So here is how this all works, people all over the world (some with malicious intent) get your phone numbers the majority of the time from online, not always but most of the time. They can do it by hacking into even legitimate sites you have visited, Even if they were secured, if you entered a phone number, they will call, DO NOT give your credit or debit card out over the phone. Most are amateurs but the scary thing is that there are some that are so good all they need is just a little bit of information to 'scam' you. Maybe they already have your address AND number and just need a last name to match up enough info to hijack your bank account, or ruin your credit, steal identity, just plain rob you. Maybe they have your full name but just want your address, or bank info, or email address, just be careful. Many use tools online so that you cannot even trace where they are really calling from, or you just plain don't have their real number. Don't expect the idiot phone companies to help you either, alot of times they know you are being scammed and could care less, might not even admit it to you. Or they know they don't have the tools to stop them, or are working with them in some way, such as they get paid more to let some [***] from another country run your number on a list so countless other people can call and scam you, or play games. I haven't ruled that completely out, and have yet to see a phone company that can really do much about these types of calls, even if you are on a Do Not Call list how can you press charges against somebody that is smart enough to not even be traced down? Or may be half way across the world? My best advice, just be careful when it comes to your bank account and card information, Do not give out a social security number EVER either unless you are 100% sure who you are talking to, even then you should'nt give important numbers out over the phone people can even listen to your conversations now and I'm not just talking about the government. I personally have fun and mess with them until they usually just hang up, then I call my good for nothing phone company and tell them how poorly they are doing, if they get enough of these types of complaints maybe they will step up and provide more security for us little ''paying'' customers.
One more thing I should add, if you don't want to change your number, when a number calls you don't recognize unless your waiting for an important call just let it go to voicemail. My Motto: if the call is important enough they will leave a message...right?!
This number called me twice. I didn't answer as I was at work. Hopefully they'll realize I'm not going to talk to them and stop calling at some point. I guess there's really nothing else I can do about it until AT&T offers number blocking for free.
UGH. Is this what he!! is like? Getting calls from [***] like this? What a waste of my time and minutes. Cancerous fartwands.
