I got a call from them and thought it was for a good cause. They came out and picked up my electronics and told me that it was to be donated or recycled. When I went down to see there operation I was horrified! What a scam. everyone donates to them thinking they are doing good and the truth is far from it. Dirty warehouse off the main road and kind of hidden, front door its a retail space and there I seen my laptop for sale! no donations just sales. a sign out front charging for electronics for recycling and trailers in the docks. I wish someone would investigate the owner and such as he was driving an escalade and was a complete [***] to me. I don't buy the story or what they are selling. This place stinks and the next time I have electronics I will just call 311 to find out what I can do with them.

ERA is one of the best scams I've came across in Canada. Since they are "non-profit" on paper, they are completely tax exempt but they have no restrictions on re-selling the donated equipment. I have seen their ads on kijiji, ebay, alibaba, and numerous other eCommerce sites. They are also very sneaky and will send you lawyer signed PDFs and some BS to backup their fraudulent activity. They pretend to operate from Canada, but most of their phone staff is calling from Eastern Europe and the numbers are masked since it's routed through the owner's local property. On top of that, they recently got very involved in the "anti fraud" movement and the only reason was to cover up their own fraudulent activity. Doing so, if you google "electronic recycling association", you will get an impression that they are the ones fighting fraud. Very smart move Mr. Paduh. Also, notice that they call themselves an "association" but it is nothing more than a privately run business. Lastly, they do donate from time to time but it's a fractional percentage of what they actually sell. They use the rare donations as a marketing campaign to attract more clients. I really hope that the City of Calgary will finally go after these scammers who think they are above law.PS. If you do actually decide to donate your computer to ERA, make sure you keep the hard drive as I had few sources tell me that they don't even format the drives.
