Calling my phone..do not know them. I thought I had been placed on a do not call list!
Same problem. Frequent calls, two or three a day. One time I answered I got an unintelligible voice with garbled words. Hung up, called them back, got a busy signal. Calls continue. Thanks for the tip!
Hi All,I too have been receiving lots of calls from this number and no voicemails left. I faxed a cease and desist letter to Public Interest Communications earlier today, but just minutes ago received another call from them. Honestly, the girl on the other end was sweet. Turns out because I made a one time donation to a non-profit (in this case the Yosemite Conservancy, but I'm sure they make calls on behalf of many non-profits) in memory of my boss's deceased sister, they were following up on their behalf seeking another donation. I told her to inform her management that they should at least identify themselves when they call in a voicemail and that they need to be more aware of the Do Not Call registry. I told her I found a lot of people complaining online about calls from their call center and that they should reconsider their business model. Don't know if it will do any good, but I tried.Good luck!
It is a scam. My call was thanking me for my donation to PIG and said they were from a farm sanctuary. No.
Here's some addresses and phone numbers fromm their web site where people can apply to work with them. Wouldn't it be tempting to show our appreciation by sending them magazine and free offer subscriptions? Maybe they could form a marketers-to-marketers fun club!Public Intrerest Communications, Inc7700 Leesburg Pike, Suite 301, Falls Church, VA 22043, 2nd Floor, Suite #600, Phone: 703.847.8300, Fax: 703.734.96205001 Baum Blvd, 2nd Floor, Suite #600, Pittsburgh, PA 15213Phone: 412.622.7370, Fax: 412.622.73741924 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84105Phone: 801.484.1107, Fax: 801.364.7373
been ignoring calls from this number for a week or so - caller ID says "pub interest cm" so i knew it was telemarketing. finally picked up today and no one was there, even waited a bit but no one ever responded. filled out the form on their website using fake info other than the phone #. hopefully they will respect.
Thanks to this site for shedding light on the offending company. If you ever find what organization or cause they are soliciting for, you might send that organization a blank envelope with a note explaining that the telemarketer caused you to cease all contributions to their cause. Also use the DNC register to complain.Yes they ask for a lot of info, but other than your phone number, the rest of it can be faked, close enough to pass the automated checks.
I never cease to be amazed...I'm always opting out of things...and some new "organization" gets my n umber. It is just sooo annoying.
This is a fundraising firm that works for non-profits. There are a number of them. I suggest that you NEVER contribute via telephone to any solicitations. MANY charge more for their services than they collect for their clients. (I don't know about this one - just that it's a common problem.) When you find out who they're calling for (assuming they don't hang up first - which was my experience today 3/18/11), and if it is someone you wish to support, I suggest you go directly to the non-profit's website and make your donation via their online form. OR call the non-profit agency directly and ask for the development department to make a donation via phone. I support many non-profits (mostly conservation, environmental, and humane/animal rights). I ALWAYS let them know right up front that I do not want to be called, and that if they do call me they can expect no more $upport!
