This number calls me constantly.. no message left on our vm. No answer when I can the number back.
It showed this number on the call display, which made me think it was someone calling from Toronto. But it was a friend traveling in the States, using a prepaid calling card. Mystery solved.
receive call from this number 6-10 times each day; I was answering them for a while, but never hear a voice on the other end of the line, so I stopped answering the calls. But they keep coming. Can this number be blocked?
Received a call from 416-589-0379 on Oct.11th. 2012, which was from C.M.H.C. and doing a rental survey on my 3plex..Wanted to know if there were any vacancies and rental value. They won't get any of my info.
This IS a "long distance pre-paid calling card".........ie someone, or, some company can buy these to call people from either their own phone or from a payphone.
A friend of mine got that number on her call display. It's a Toronto based number. She got it when I called her place (she does not live in Canada), but add 001 in front of it. That would likely be via a President's Choice (international) prepaid long distance calling card in association with Bell Canada. It likely is "outgoing calls only", so chances of tracing are slim to none. Her Caller ID showed it as: 00141 65 89 03 79 , (the European convention for 00-1-416-589-0379.)Conversely, our caller ID's truncate the off-shore number. It gives the first digit, and the last 10 digits. Anything in the middle is gone (the rest of the international calling sequence plus part of the country code) is gone.
I had a missed call on my cell tonight from this number. I did not call back because I have no idea who this could be. I keep my cell number private --only family and close friends have the number so I suspect this is a scam, telemarketer or something equally unwanted! And I live in rural Saskatchewan!
Got this call at approx. 1:30AM in Winnipeg. We have a fax machine, and whenever we get a fax it comes through as a different ring (more often they dial our fax number by accident). Was sleeping, heard it ring like this, didn't get up because we thought we'd just check in the morning. In the late afternoon, went to make a phone call, and realized there was a message on the answering machine. Listened, and it was a girl who was very slowly saying that she was probably going to die. Said her name was "Tracy James" or "Tracy Daves" (hard to hear), and that she thought she needed to let someone know that she was scared and going to be killed. Talked for the whole message, also mentioning she had to call someone in Winnipeg, she wasn't from here, from somewhere else. They gave her a flashlight, she was in the bush. Could clearly hear talking and engine reving in the background, along with what sounded like an East-Indian person saying "happy birthday." Ended with her being cut off by the answering machine. It was also marked urgent (an option our machine gives when leaving messages). Was contemplating making a police report, because we were concerned it was real, but upon reading everyone else's messages on here, determined that the police wouldn't be able to do much, since these calls are placed from within toronto (whether by payphone or card). Also posting on here, puts it in permanent record in case there actually is a Tracy James that got killed (hope not!).Would have been scared shitless had I answered it at 1:30 AM.
