I did the same thing. Knowing it was a robo I still answered YES to the question "did you personally vote in the last election?" Then it said, "I didn't hear that would you mind repeating?" and I answered YES, and then it occurred to me, why would a robo call say they didn't hear me...they wanted another YES. Shoot! Then they said may we call back with one or two answer surveys in the future and I said NO NO NO. And it said "Okay, thank you." I am so dumb!
I got the call 10 minutes ago, ID said: "IInformed Electorate." I answered. Man's voice asked if I voted in the last election. I said "Yes" - and then remembered the scam. Next question was, will I allow them to call again in a month? I said, "Who are you?" No answer, I hung up, but am so mad for being tricked into the "yes" answer. I'd heard about it as a call asking, "Is this (your name)?" I never got that one, but it's the same idea. I'm usually more quick on the uptake than that. Darn! We Must Be Vigilant!
Oh really? Thank you. Because this was the first time they called me andmthey didn't ask for money yet. I will be prepared if they call again.
"informed electorate" on the caller ID as well. Most these numbers are spoofed these days. I know it's a conditioned response to run to the phone when it rings, but why don't we all just quit answering our phones if we don't recognize the number. My phone is not advertising space. I pay the bill. The phone companies have the power to stop these calls, but they won't because they make money from every call placed by the scammers, and from us when we buy caller ID and call blockers. Why stop! Until we force the phone companies hands these calls will never stop.
I have to say that I have a personal rule to never answer political calls, scam calls, unidentified calls, etc. BUT... I have read that Trump does read survey results, and the CID gave some sort of identification. Which of course could be fake... But on a whim, I answered. It said it was automated. It said it was "non-partisan." It said it had only one question to ask, which was a lie. The first question asked if I voted, and I said yes. Oddly, it didn't ask my opinion about anything at all after that answer. Then it asked if I would accept a call in about a month from now, to ask other questions, and I said yes again. Because I am hoping the feedback will get back to so-callied Pres Drumpf, I am that angry, that afraid lately, that I might give strangers doing a survey my low opinion of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. But I won't be giving them any personal information, no matter how much I wish that joker and his cronies ill will. I would just be willing to say I approve or don't approve of him. And no, I won't be giving a stranger money, thank you to everyone here that warned us they're gonna ask us for money. So it already sounds scammy to me... Real survey companies are already funded by one side or the other, for partisan ulterior motives, or they gather information and THEN sell it. Thanks, everyone. I'm already feeling foolish. We'll see what happens. If they ask for money, I'll know they're scammers and hang up.
Multiple calls over the past week. I pick up and say nothing and wait then they disconnect. If I do not recognize thevCID name, I don't want the call.
I just remembered rewding abiutmthat scam but I did yes. It asked me to say yes twice, just like you guys. I got worried, came here and saw others had thought if it, too. Too late, but I won't answer next time, and won't ever break my rule of not answering ever again.
Sophisticated voice response system, betrayed by occasional inappropriate responses. In the 3rd or 4th survey call they made a persistent pitch for monthly contributions to support activities. Just say no, but if you're curious about the state of the art in natural language recognition, engage their computerized system in conversation. Thus stuff is already in common use by scammers, so listen, learn, and be forewarned.
They asked the same question as the others. I responded with a 2 word answer that rhymes with Duck Too. The answer was we'll put you on the do not call list. So either a live person or a robot call that responds to a comment other than yes or no with a put you on the do not call list. Either way they got THAT message!
