Live in Portland, received a call from this number @ 6:50 PM on 1/21/2009. Did not answer, no message was left.
I too am in Portland. I answered the call and had one of two options: I chose to speak with a representative, when a woman came on the line she asked if I wanted to renew my auto warranty because it was about to expire. I told her that I don't own a vehicle (which I actually don't) and asked how she got my cell number. She then hung up on me. I tried to call back but only got a busy signal.
5089474418called connected... silence (phone wasn't working right. Called back twice got a disconnected notice, twice got a busy signal
I am in Portland and didn't answer my cell phone. They called at 7:08 pm on 1/21/09. I'm glad I checked this website before I called back. I wish they would do something about these people.
I've been getting automated calls about my supposed over due car payments or something to that affect. I've never called back but I did just ignore that call. I figured I would search the # online and find results. Good to know I'm not alone. haha
Obviously this number is a calling device that's promoting a scam of some kind. If you fall for this, you deserve what you get. This number is a nuisance, and gets away with calling you, even if you're on the "Do Not Call" list. Is there any agency or arm of our government that can stop this?
The phone number shows it is registered to an individual in Middleboro, MA. Calling the number results in a busy signal; the number on the caller ID has been SPOOFED, that is, the scammer (caller) made up the number, and fakes it on your caller ID display. Usually, they pick a number that has been recently disconnected for the fake caller ID number. They say that your car warranty is about to expire, and this is your last notice. This time they said "press 1 to speak to a rep, press 2 to be removed from our follow-up list." I pressed 2, and the call immediately hung up. They called a business number that is not listed, and there is no vehicle registered here, so they are just going thru all possible phone numbers to call, not going on a list of real vehicle owners! This type of call frequently comes from outside of the USA, even though they fake the caller ID info with a USA number, and is some kind of SCAM to steal YOUR MONEY by getting your credit card info!
I have received the call from the F***in dudes multiple times over past one month. I dont know how to stop getting these. Car insurance ..blah they say! i just hang up though but it is getting annoying!!! Can some kick their B***s for good?? whatever ...I see that I am not the only one here.
