Previous 800notes entries are no doubt true... but very interesting to me as I too received a call from this number. In my case, it was the now infamous "Card Services" robo-call operation! I hung up after listening to the recorded message until it mentioned offering to lower my credit card interest rates. Coincidence or not... I immediately blocked the number only to receive a 2nd call about an hour later which was blocked. Then received another call from 313-444-1013 (seems to be the same outfit). I had blocked that second number a couple of days previously.
I also got a follow up call that appears to be from the same operation. If you call any of the numbers back, the same recording plays saying "press 9 to be aded to the do not call list". Presumably, this means that the number is owned by someone involved in this instead of being completely spoofed.Mine came from 313-444-1018
Said to press 9 to be put on do not call list. I did. Now I'm wondering WHY I did that without thinking. DUH. They never even said WHAT list . . . I just did it because they KEEP calling . . . did I do something dangerous?
Thank you in the extreme for sharing this number! Impossible to lookup the correct one of you don't have it.
I figured out where this came from by all your answers! Those "surveys"! Even if you click no for not interested, they share your info or another entity piggie backs to steal it. I had this happen one other time but didn't realize it was that! The sheriff came to my door claiming i was stealing from PayPal! I got out of it when i showed him how much trouble one has getting in their own account! After, PayPal changed security measures bc they finally realized they were making it only hard for the customers & easy for the thieves! They traced the crooks to Argentina when the bounce bot was disconnected by the perp, they aren't even sure that was the real location. Since this call comes from the same state,i wonder if it was a wild goose chase with him being right here the whole while?! Don't ever respond to these. It makes it worse! They are phishing for real numbers & real ppl to rip you off. When you react they know they have a good hit. Its a numbers game to them. After they get a live one they look for stuff for identity theft. This is really bad calling from 517 bc we poor ppl might think it's real bc it's where dhs calls from too but i think they're counting on that to run the con. Contact peekyou.com to remove your info(you'd be shocked what they list) & the credit bureaus to make your contact info private. Then if you ever are a"good hit"again, they can't find your important info. Unfortunately they'll never be stopped but they won't get YOU!! SPREAD THE GOOD WORD-PROTECT OTHERS.
This is computer generated and the computer does not dial random numbers. There are "services" that sell your telephone number to criminals like the caller at this number. We've had unlisted unpublished phone number for 35 years. Never a call like this until I bought a new Honda CR-V and financed through Capitol One. Phone has not stopped ringing since. My ex-brother-in-law was one of first people to use computer calling from verified lists. Sadly I know what goes on in this phone scam business. Also hard to justify random calling after 5 calls on some days. Once you answer or press 1 or 9 to be placed on their do not call list which of course puts you to the top and your phone calls will go up since the computer knows they have a "live" person who answers this phone that they have a chance to scam. On these calls you can assume EVERYTHING they tell you is a lie. Best thing to do is do not answer a call from a number you do not know.
