I answered but didn't say anything. I didn't hear anyone on the other end and it hung up. Probably automated.
How would the robber know you didn't just let it ring? I only answer like 50% of all calls made to me on my cell and landline.
As far as I'm concerned, if you don't want me to know who you are, you have no need to call my house anyway! I will never answer an unknown or private call. Clearly you have something to hide (name, number), so you are probably up to no good...
555 is reserved for entertainment so it is obviously someone spoofing their number and caller id. DO NOT ANSWER THIS NUMBER

JUST FYI .... Robo-Callers do not have to follow the DNC list. Only live telemarketers do. I found this out when I got over 30 Robo-Calls in one day from the same number tying to get me to claim a $100 Walmart card. I called the FTC and they informed me that they don't have to follow the DNC list, only offer the opportunity for you to OPT OUT (even though that doesnt work).
I just got a call from this number. The Cox explanation fits that it is a way to hide the real number. They did leave a message. It was from the Lupus Foundation of America to remind us and give us directions about leaving out things we want to donate to them tomorrow. They left an 800 number for us to call if we want to make any changes
Caller ID:: DIR ASST 555-5555. Left message inviting me to a rally with Ann Romney in Reno and a number to call. Where's the transparency you're preaching, Mr Romney?
These people apparently are trying to sell car warranty and say they are calling because i called them for information, which I did not. They change numbers that I keep blocking to no avail. They are driving me crazy and there is nothing I can do. I even put them on a nuisance report but they still call. I am 76 and need rest but they cal several times a day. Wish I could due them but can t afford an attorney.

Someone using this number called, when I answered there seemed to be there cut I said "hello" twice and no one said a thing. I hung up. If it was a collector they would not only answer but keep you on the line for as long as it took.

Yes. The caller claimed to represent Document Delivery Services and threatened to serve me with papers from a fifteen year old debt. A check with my local County Clerk’s Office revealed no evidence of lawsuit filed.
