This is a scam, I recived an e-mail claiming i had activity on my cash card, I don't have a cash card with BOA. when i called this number trying explain this the first thing thay wanted was my social security number. this is one thing any bank will never ask you for, they don't need to they already have it.

I receieved a call from this number today as welll. Yesterday I alerted BOA I would be travelling to Colombia. I did google it first but called it back and when she asked for my SSN I told her I was not comfortable with that given I didn't know who I was talking to and why even though I got a "Thank you for Bank of America". Heck anyone can say that. She said I can call the number on the back of my acrd and they can transfer me to that department. Which I did and they wanted to varify it was me adding a travel alert. It was not a scam, just BOA varifying the change.

I received a call and voicemail message from 315-724-4022 informing me of unusual activities on my account. The "caller" identified themselves as being from Bank of America. The caller asked me to call 1-866-242-6289 OR 602-597-2395 (if I was calling from outside of the United States. I called the866 number. I was asked for the last 4 digits of my social security number. The computer asked me to verify recent activities on my card. The activities were in fact my activities, one of which was a transaction I had just made only 2 minutes before I received the initial call. I confirmed that the charges were mine. The computer thanked me and there was no hold placed on my debit card. This seems like a legitimate thing. I don't think it is a scam.

The phone # is BofA in AZ. I live in Florida but am traveling to Australia and notified the bank. They auto voice called back next day and wanted a bunch of auto voice qualifying questions answered (that it was me traveling). I was NOT comfortable with it all. I finally got to a person who also asked a bunch of normal 'inquisitve' account questions. With much reluctance I made my way through a conversation that qualified beyond shadow of doubt it was all legitimate (BofA) BUT...I told the bank lady that the system is NOT friendly and very intrusive with uncomfortability in the way they go about it all. You'll get the "I'm sorry" (as usual) but, it WAS all OK, was legit and I felt better however, BofA do need to get a much better method of trying to help you qualify travel safety procedures and card use and NOT scare you as if it's all a scam??? It sure comes across that way. I hope this helps someone. Whatever you do - proceed with caution in your own comfort zone but when you find it's all above board - it sure makes you feel better that the bank WAS trying to help. That's been my experience.

Got a call from B of A today not form this number but stating to call this number back if outside the US. I was given a 6-digit reference number. Due to this seeming suspicious, I called the number on the back of my B of A card and was transferred to the ATM fraud department. They confirmed that nothing was wrong with my account and that I did a good thing by not calling this number back.Don't risk it. It pays to be cautious these days!

I went on live chat with BOA and they gave me this number to call. The rep did ask some rather in depth questions/odd questions about my card. I did not give him the three digit code on the back when he asked for it. He did ask for my online ID which I thought was a bit strange. I'm going to call BOA and find out why they ask so many personal questions.

602-597-2395 This is a VALID number that you have to call when you travel outside the US in order for BAC to allow you to use your cards.

Call collect and ask for emergency cash. You will be transferred to snobby, I trustive, VISA, people. They will Western Union money from your account to an agent Some charges may apply I think it is bad public relations that BOA doesnnt bother to tell you about emergency cash available via your bankomat card. Im in Italy.
