I tried everything above, nothing worked. Finally just hit command-w over&over&over as fast as I could while clicking "ok" and "leave page". Eventually got the command in and the tab closed.

My wife called me to say we got the pop-up message on Safari. I called the number from a benign phone number and spoke with them, they could not give me a company name they were working for. They said they were Apple technicians. I said, "I figured this was a scam." The guy hung up on me.

I called the number. He wanted to access my computer. Told him no way. Googled the number and seen these posts and shut everything down. Now I'm worried they have my phone number.

Do the following:1. Force quite Safari2. Press and hold the Shift key, double click Safari icon to restart it.

Wow these guys are good.i just installed cable internet and went to speedtest.net to check my net speed and it was a malicious site.Once opened,a Mac security ad pops up and say you must call this number immediately because your computer is infected.DO NOT CALL THEM!They are fake as [***]!

Just fell for their scam but when the Indian guy started talking about money and bank accounts and online purchases which I did not make, I just unplugged my computer.

I had the same problem. The thing is that I called them. They took control of my computer, but all they were asking what I used my computer for. I'm a teacher, so I said teaching. I then got suspicious and force the shut down of my computer. Do they have access to my information: bank accounts, etc.? They just looked at what I did with my Mac. The Indian guy didn't try to download anything because i force shut down the computer.

I found not open my safari because it was saying that I need to call immediately that number. When I called, they told me that I had a virus and that I need to protect my computer. I got distracted and let them log in to my computer by c4s.They tried to sell me software which costs 140$. I told them that I want to stop the thing as I cannot provide that..and then they asked : "how much are you willing to pay" and that was when they proved that they are just spamming because that is not common at all for a software company to ask you how much you are willing to pay so that you can do the purchase.I just hope that they have not gotten any sensitive information such as passwords and debit cards.. I hope that was "all" what they were trying to do.Anyone getting that thing from safari just force quite..don't call the fu**ing number
