WARNING!This was designed as a highly personal scam. Phone rang, I picked up and there was a delay then a little tone sounded which connected me to another location that had one of those overseas sounding rings.Person picked-up, called me by name but I sensed immediately that something wasn't right. He (middle eastern sounding accent) called me by name again. Yes? I said (very skeptical) but was dying to know what this was all about. He said "It's ME!, John! - John Solomon!" I am 110% certain I know of no one by that name but I played along."Hey! John!! How are you!!" "Its been like forever, whats going on?" I said. He asked me how I was doing and all the other standard small talk. Asked me how my son was doing (nope, ain't got one - so some of his data was clearly incorrect) but I said "Just fine." "He's so much bigger than the last time you've seen him.".... "So? John? What can I do for you?" I asked.Turns out my "dear friend" John got into a bit of financial trouble and was calling on his BEST FRIENDS to kinda help him out! LOL. I said "of course!" "Anything for a friend like you John" and pledged $1000 (I mean what the heck? He was so dear i should've pledged $10,000 but who wants to show off like that?) "John" was overjoyed and told me to hold - was going to look up his wire transfer number and would be right back. Sadly, in that short absence from the phone, John's luck ran out. He clearly didn't even have enough to pay his phone bill because the line abruptly and without warning, disconnected! PLEASE JOHN! CALL BACK! LOLPlease don't fall for these kinds of scams. I had NO IDEA who this person was and the call - even though it showed a U.S. caller-id, was from overseas.
