I got a message on Depop from “Gloria Herzog”, same exact story as everyone else. Do not trust!!!

I got this number from someone messaging me about listings on Depop. I said you can message me right here on depop and no answer. after that. Lol I have been a seller on other platforms for several years, so I know what to look for. It never gets farther than their original message and I will mess with them to no end if I am in a mean mood. But for other sellers that are young or new, NEVER take a transaction off the site you are selling through. ANYTIME they message with an number or email and ask you to contact them that way, it is a SCAM. There is nothing you can't answer right there in those messages on the selling platform. It is their way of making it hard to report them and have their fake accounts taken down. Catch them right then and there so you have valid proof to report so the selling platform can deal with them for you.

On Depop as Janet Ford (@/jfordaz3) knew the dm of “do me the honor and message me” was interesting haha .. beware !

Posted items on depop and received a message from this number and a user named laura speed (speed9a). they requested that i text them at this number because they had more questions about my post. Uhm....I wasn't born yesterday, i immediately searched the number and here I am! I mean really?!?!?!?!? Scam. Scam. Scam.

SCAMMMMM I just received a text from this person through Depop telling me to text them to their number and I did, thank God I checked this number before giving them my address or my name!!!

This person on depop tried to buy an item from me and offered to text their number. Im glad that I reported this number

This is actually terrifying because the SAME THING happened to me that Jackie posted about on 7-23-19. The date is currently 8-26-19 and I got 2 messages from 2 depop buyers by the names of Tami Brown and Linda Hopewell that said the SAME thing, "Is the price firm? Do me the favor of texting: -404/549/3328 : regarding this post. I've other questions" They both sent this same message but with different phone numbers imput into depop in that weird way... Then "Tami" gave me the EXACT same sob story that her father had recently died and there had been a mistake with her accountant and that they had accidentally sent me a check for over $1000 but she was trusting me to just take out the 200 + the $30 extra that she was paying me to hold the item until her check came to me in the mail, and to send the remaining 900ish dollars back to her in the mail along with the dress. I AM NOT KIDDING I ALMOST WENT THROUGH WITH THIS because I'm also a broke college kid and I was so hype that someone bought my $200 dress and was wanting to pay me an extra $30 on top of that! I'm so glad I got suspicious at the last minute and googled the message she sent me and this forum popped up. Read what Jackie said in her post! Her bank told her it was a SCAM and she would have been totally screwed over. Wow. Thank you internet!!!

That is the same thing that is happening to me right now, I didnt think anything of it until I had already sent my name and address though! I'm not sure what to do now.
