i got messaged on depop by someone named janet bromely with the same number asking if the price was firm on two items and asked to text and has not responded to any messages

I posted an item on Depop and someone by the name of Linda Speed answered. Said that they would give me $30 to hold the item until a bank check was received. I thought it was awesome bc I’m a broke college student! I was told that they sent a check for too much money because their assistant did that by accident because they were away dealing with the death of their father. I was fine with sending the extra money back but when I received the check it was from Wisconsin, the letter it was sent in was from Louisiana, this number is from Georgia, and they wanted me to send their item and money to Texas. I looked up the address I was sending the money to and it was a 7-Eleven. I thought that was very peculiar but I deposited the check and then I called my bank after. My bank told me immediately that it was a scam trying to steal money while the check was being deposited and if I sent the money I would’ve had to pay that money back and I would’ve lost my item as well. Thankfully I still have my item and I was able to come to the realization about that mistake. This number is a scam and don’t do anything they ask you to!!!

I just got a message from "Linda Speed" on Depop saying "Is the price firm? Do me the favor of texting: 706/406/4504: regarding this post. I've other questions." about one of my posts. I immediately thought it was suspicious and a potential scammer. I reported them and you should do the same if you got a message from them.

Asked me to text them about an item im seling on depop....please be safe and never communicate or have people pay on anything but the app!!

They also asked me under the name Linda Speed. She asked if the price was firm and asked me to text this number. Automatically I had a bad feeling so i searched it up.

Do not text that number. She is trying to get me. Please block that number. She will try threatening you with a attorney. I deposited a check and it feels real fishy. Please dont respond to her

Person makes an excuse to be traveling and will add $30 to save products for purchase. She said her financiar mailed a check for $1000 by mistake. Wants a check mailed back to her for the difference of $920.... SCAM...

I selling on depop and this person messaged me with this phone number, they are claiming that their name is faith campbell and that they has questions about an item. I know recently this scam or whatever has been very popular on the selling platform.
