Male called my supervisor Tues 1/21/2020 regarding outstanding magazine subscription payments. He had all of her personal information which she mistakenly verified. When asked to confirm what company he represented, he started giving her an attitude and then hung up. Today, Fri 1/24, he and another woman who identified herself as being from 2430 Inc Law Offices again called and threatened arrest. Attempts to call this number back didn't even result in a ringing tone.
I get calls from this and similar numbers all the time on my home and cell phones, waking up my children or interrupting our meals constantly. They told me I owe a past-due debt, but refuse to tell me what the company name is. Funny, because I have never been past-due on anything in my life. They have also asked me to give them my credit card number because I must "take care of this immediately to avoid further collections." I told them to send me a bill. Never has gotten one...just more phone calls. Today I told the guy to write this down: "716-875-2726" and to go home and google the number to see what a fraud company he works for. :D They should all be locked up as criminals.
This man who lives in New York came to my boyfriends job and try to contact us about a court case we had no idea about. And now I am getting calls from Buffalo, New York from this number and the police think he is a scam artist trying to get east money by saying he's a retired private lawyer and he needs money first in order to "represent" us in New York.
My experience is the same as the Ladies before me. I dont owe any past due debt and he even goes as far as calling my job, he is a scam artist and the cops have been called.
Have received 2 messages from this #. They leave a docket # and say my laywer needs to contact them. Even threatened to involve my oldest daughter and ex-husband. They also use my previous name. Have not used that name in 10 years!
My message was the same, they used my maiden name and I haven't used that name in 8 years!
I keep getting calls from this same number stating that I'm being sued for magazines that I received 10 yrs ago and that they are sending me to small claims court and I will be served a court summons by a sheriff. I would be REQUIRED to appear in court in Buffalo, NY. Said my son, daughter and husband would receive the same summons as well unless I gave them my debit card # right now to settle out of court for $275. I looked up everything you can find about small claims court and you don't get served by a sheriff, you are notified by mail and a lot of times it's not even certified mail. You don't HAVE to appear in court, you can mediate a settlement through the court. Last message she left me said I would need a criminal attorney. Since when is it a crime to owe someone money? How ridiculous.....there's no debtors prison in the US!!!! I don't have any idea who they are or how they got my information but I don't owe for any magazines! SCAM!!!!
I just received the same call today. It's very easy to get your name, address. Have you ever entered an on-line contest or filled out a survey where you gave name & address, etc? That information is sold to anyone who will pay for it (usually scammers) and then they start calling. Unfortunately, at least 1 out of 20 people fall for it. So, the scammers can take home a pretty penny at the end of each day.
