OMG! You may be right. I signed up for Google fortune; figuring it was legit since they claim MSNBC, CNN, and all these other stations have vouched for them. It completely isn't!! The next day I had Order confirmation emails from 2 other companies stating I was in a trial membership and after x amount of time I would be charged $50 and $20. I NEVER authorized this. When I called them they said they were part of Google Fortune. Now I'm getting 2 calls a day as stated in my post below.
The number called twice i answered he hung up, the third time same thing.I called him back and he "Hello "Buck"." I said "Who?" he then said I am looking for "BUCK" and I told him he had the wrong number and said thanks for calling Quantum Research. My guess is it based on some kind of email scam or some company you trust with your credit card # is selling your info. Either way they are [***] heads.
i've gotten a lot of calls from them. if you call the number back and wait a little bit there is an atomateed system to get your number removed.
On Sept 19, 2007 I left a message here (page 10) about what I did to stop them. I havent heard from them since. Just so you dont have to scroll all the way to page 10 - the calls with no one on the line are computer generated. Once you pick up the phone, the computer tells this skanky company what time you are home or are taking calls. At that time, usually the next day, a real person will call with the whole rude sales pitch. I accidentally answered a call one morning when I was still asleep and didnt have my glasses on. There was no one there. I waited for the next business day for them to call. They did, and there was someone on the line. I answered the phone saying "Pierce County Sherriffs Department, how may I direct your call?" They hung up immediately and havent called back since. I dont think they will, but if they do I will answer the same way. You can use any "disguise" you want. "Attorney Generals (use the name of your states A.G.) Office" "State Mental Health Department", etc. Use your own imagination and wit. But, make sure you report them. There are many links in the following pages that will help you make a complaint to the Florida Attorney General. I did, and I recieved a letter from him this morning telling me that he has had many, many complaints. And that he is doing all he can to make it stop. Be smart, be heard.
TONS OF SCAMS OUT THERE.....Check the FTC's website www.ftc.govtoo many scams out there ripping off primarily our elderly.
The woman said I had purchased something over the internet, I asked what company she was calling from and what did I purchase and when, she said "due to the privacy" si I interrupted her and said I too have and want my privacy. Before I hung up she blurted "I have your credit card number".
Received a call from this number on my cell phone. Same thing,Quality Resources or something, some story about some $40.00 gas card, she was going to continue "reading her script" but I asked who are you and interupted her saying this was my cell phone and I have minutes to worry about. She apologized and hung up. Annoying.
I just had the wonderful idea to call them and see who it was after seeing most of you say that they have your credit card info. So I put up with their BS for a while. By the end of the call they wanted me to authorize three $1 charges to the card to be sent the info for these three different offers in the mail in two weeks. They had a very old mailing address but I didn't correct it. I called my mastercard customer service to get my account changed and flagged or whatever they needed to do. COME TO FIND OUT that the people calling are marketing partners with my credit card company and I was not on the "opt-out" list. So I am furious that these companies can sell my info (and yours!) to marketing agencies to let you on this 30-day trial for $1 each and after 30 days you get hit with $19.95 and $24.95 charges because you threw out the offer when it came in the mail because you know it was junk so you forgot to call and cancel!!! Write your congress people or the BBB or something! This seriously needs to stop.
