232-0000 is a generic U-M number, so it could be the hospital calling you, or one of the academic departments. Not a telemarketer.
I received a call from this number on my cell phone today at 4:30 pm. The caller was a nurse from my cardiologist at the University of Michigan Health System, reminding me of an appointment. This number is one of the outgoing telephone numbers at the University of Michigan PABX (private automatic branch exchange) system owned and operated by the University. It connects a phone call made within an extension number of the University to one of the outgoing telephone lines connecting the University PABX to a local telephone company.PABX allows an organization to save a lot of money by reducing a number of telephone lines it would otherwise have to subscribe from a local telephone company substantially. Instead of paying for 30,000 telephone lines that connect every phones installed in offices within the University to a local telephone company's PSTN (public switched telephone network) via trunk lines, a PABX system allows the University to subscribe to, for example, 1,500 telephone lines to the local telephone company, on an assumption that at anytime throughout the day there would be no more than 1,500 outgoing telephone calls made from within the University's telephone extension simultaneously. In this example, if a 1501th person tries to make a phone call to a telephone number outside of the University when all the 1,500 outgoing trunk lines are in use, she/he will hear a busy tone (calls between extension numbers within the University are excluded from this restriction; they are handled internally by the PABX system). It is based on a probability - how likely would it be that more than 1,500 people are making phone calls simultaneously from within the University's extension number to someone outside the University (to both local as well as long distant phone numbers).
True. We get calls from the U of M hospital about appointments and lab reports etc. Have a handicapped child.
This number called me at 630am so the first thing I do with a number I don't know is check this site. Odd that I would get a call from this number, I haven't been treated by UofM hospital in over 10 years and I now live in AZ. Needless to say, not happy about the early wake up call.
This may normally be a legit numb from the U of M but obviously it is being Spoofed to phish for info and SPAM people now because why else would it be calling so many people not connected in any way with the hospital or Uni? This is going on my block list. I hate knowing that if I report a numb as spam thats been Spoofed it will only get the legit people in trouble... But I guess thats the point of Spoofing.
Received a call from this number at 10:30 pm in Alpena, MI. No connection to U of M or Ann Arbor. The call was actually a little concerning as it was a child asking "Where is my mom?". I asked who it was or who they were looking for and the question was repeated once more. I proceeded to hang up and call back to receive an operator error.
this is the University of Michigan's PABX (private automatic branch exchange) outgoing trunk line number.
