My husband is in the Indiana Army National Guard, deployed to Afghanistan. He had called me a couple of times from this number. What happens is this: He used a DSN Phone(Defense Switched Network), he pressed the number 7 to call me, and when I answered my cell phone, the number 777-777-7777 came on my caller ID. I typically do not answer calls that are from numbers I do not know of, but, since I know my husband is deployed, I will answer any number that comes up on my caller ID. I hope this helps :)
Has anyone that has received one of these calls from 777 777 7777 been billed for the minutes on their cell? I have friends calling from abroad, but I don't want to pay the international rates on my cell when I receive the call.
I work for the telephone company in my area and used to work for a larger Bell company busting some of these guys. Anyway I got a guy with a thick MidEastern accesnt saying he will UPS me a Sprint Cell Phone just give him my name and address (I made up a name and address)..so he proceeded. he then wanted my SSN (thus the real plot of the call). I told him I would not give a SSN over the phone. He became agitated and went into a scripted plot of why he needed the SSN. I hung up.He called back twice later, I did not pick the phone back up.I tried calling Sprint...they obviously do not care as they placed me a vmail menu loop and the fraud dept was closed.
When I asked to be put on the do not call list his response was "do it yourself, idiot" and hung up. I got really mad
Got a call from this number, ask for me by name, it was a lady with an accent saying she is with US Government and I qualified for tax reward grant worth $3000.00 She was asking for my my info like address, SS# and bank information so the could "deposit" the grant money. From what I understand you can only get a grant when you applied for one and usually you would have to get approved, so I told her I didn't want to be scammed and hung up.
-- Our son called from Afghanistan (having newly arrived there) with this nr showing up on caller ID. I missed earlier call from him, because of refusing to answer calls with wierd caller ID's and from from known junk callers. I have to presume he was using the Yahoo service as the others have noted for service members calling from Iraq. -- Looks like you know who is calling if you might expect a call from overseas service member. Else, it could be just about anybody. -- No one there when you answer: probably can be chalked up to unreliability of Internet calling vs using regular phone service (at least with this nr).
What a ridiculous phone call. I got it once at 407 pm and upon answering I realized it was a guy claiming to be from the UK , I immediatly hung up. He decided to call back and wanted to send me money or something but I said no and asked him not to call back. Apparently this guy knew how to work a sound board or something, you could hear random sound effects in the background like a cow and kids, dishes crashing, brakes. It was weird. Anyways this guy had a middle eastern accent. Wonder if he will call again?! I told him that I had a baby and not to call anymore. I suppose he doesnt care though!
