Have gotten 5 calls in the last three days. Answered once as the id was Truist, hung up, as it was a formatted message asking for info.
SOMEONE SAID THEY WERE FROM DBNT.THEY CALLED MY PARENTS HOUSE, WHICH I HAVE NOT LIVED IN FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS. WEIRD.
We were called on a Sunday from someone claiming to be BB&T and they wanted to ask some personal personal information about my oldest son. They refused to let me answer the questions even though all of his accounts are in both of our names. No information was given out. We thought is was very strange that a bank would call on a Sunday. Never give out personal information over the phone.
This number has been verified as a collection agency for BB&T. Apparently your son has an outstanding loan that you don't know about and is behind on the payments.
Yes that is the number for the BB&T collection agency. They will also call if someone has applied for a credit card and is behind on the payments (even by one month). They can't discuss it with parents if the child is over 18 years old.
got a call on my cell phone from this number at strange hours, which is a tracfone and not even in my name or anything, hardly ever use it, dont think i ever gave it to anybody but friends but may have used it to make OVER THE PHONE PAYMENTS FOR CREDIT CARDS, they said something card services and wouldent say much else, i do have an account at BB&T bank
We received a call from BB&T tonight. Funny thing is that we have not banked there for more than 8 years. People calling were very difficult to understand, and they had an address for us and my husband's social # (last 4 digits). Anyway, saying we owed $263.00 for a charge off debt. I never had any debt with them, only a checking and savings account that was closed 8 years ago. And they are calling today to collect on this. And saying that I need to prove that the debt was payed, etc... I asked them to send me the info, and the guy's supervisor said "we have been sending you stuff, do you live at..." I said yes, I live there, but you just changed our address moments ago. He verified my address again and said I needed to pay the amount. When I again said he needed to send me something in the mail to look at he hung up on me. Frustrating. I could barely understand them at all. And I am puzzled about this debt he said we had because I know we did not have any credit with them. Ugh!
I received a suspicious call from this number as well and actually called the police. The person who called me would not tell me what the call was in regards to, just that it was a "business matter" and asked me 3 times for my name, social security # and account #. This would throw up a red flag to anyone. I hung up and called the BB&T branch, they were not familiar with the 1-800 # and said that it sounded like a scam. I called the police, who called the 1-800 # and the supervisor on the line said they were a BB&T collection department. I then called my customer service # on my visa and he verified that it IS a BB&T collections #. The police and Visa rep. did not blame me for being suspicious. They really need to retrain their people in collections on how to talk to customers without scaring them. None of my accounts are in default so the matter is still unresolved until I can call them next week.
