got a call from Target this morning & left a message 18003188400Don't know if is real

Received a call from this number today. Someone had tried to open an account online with Target. All the information was correct except phone and email. Target advised me that it was questionable, which is why they contacted me. They gave me the phone numbers for Trans Union credit fraud, the number to get a copy of my credit report and the FTC fraud line as well as advising me to complete a police report for identity theft. Very grateful for the call

"Jordan" from Target asked for me by my first and last name and left me a voice message requesting I call this number back and reference a provided code, along with their hours of service in Central Time. She did not make any mention of verifying info or anything pertaining to credit cards. I did apply for a Target RedCard just the day before so I don't believe this is a fraudulent call. Either way, never call an unverified number back and provide them personal information. I'm going to call a customer service number I find on Target.com to be safe.

Called the main Target financial line as it said financial services. Representative told me that the number isn't legitimate because his number was the number for financial services.

This is Target fraud services checking to see if you recently submitted an application for one of their credit cards. It seemed fishy when I got the call so I asked for a number to call back. I then called the Target customer service line and they transferred me to the fraud department, which the fraud rep confirmed was 800-318-8433. Definitely don't ignore this number. Call them back to make sure there isn't a problem. Someone tried to get a Target card with my SSN.

I applied for their card a couple of days ago. They called just to verify it was me.

Inquiry regarding Target credit application that I did not make. They were very helpful and alerted me that I was the subject of ID theft. They also provided valuable information on what agencies to contact to report this problem. 800-318-8433 is a legitimate number for Target Credit group.

Target Bank - Most likely for Target store credit card approvals.
