This is a legitimate Chase Fraud Prevention phone number. If you feel more comfortable calling the number on your card, go for it, but this is without a doubt Chase.
Of course the top comment is wrong. This is a legitimate Chase phone number, as every other post mentions.
This is a legitimate number, but I called the number on back of my card and the person who answered my call said that was the correct thing to do.
This number actually popped up as a warning on my laptop threatening that if I didn't call it before closing the window my credit card and private information would be in jeopardy and my system would be shutdown. This is the second time this warning has come up (first time with a different number I believe) They are identifying themselves as a "message from microsoft". I have closed out both times without incident. Furthermore my AVAST program shows me as protected. Posting here in case anyone else has had this issue.
Person called me, and claimed she was calling about a family member, whose name she knew. Said she wanted to send a message to her to check about her "Chase Sapphire credit card." I said 'why don't you use the phone number she supplied to you?' They said that they 'call multiple phone numbers' to verify. oh, yeah, right. Instead of calling the applicant? I don't think so.
Recently (5 days ago) I opened Chase Sapphire credit card and I am waiting on the card to arrive. Today, I get a phone call from this number and they want to verify recent activities. I haven't even activated my card since I don't have the actual card so I don't even know how there could be "fraudulent" activities in my card. I don't even know the full credit card number. I just know the last 4 digits through the bank account so far. This number sounds suspicious.
I called the number because my card had recently been declined at the airport parking garage and I'd already had a text alert about the possible fraudulent charge. A week later, I received an email to from Chase Fraud Services and to call this number. The questions were unusual however and I started to get very confused - he asked what state I was currently in. Then asked about the security code on the back of the card. After asking if there was anything else he could do for me and I said no, he said "Oh and what is the expiration date on the card you were using." I immediately hung up. I've called the number on the back of the card and requested new cards. He already knew enough information about the charges on my card that it initially seemed legitimate, but there is NO reason he would need that information and the way it was asked was incredibly suspicious.
