If you have a good answer to my above question, please email stevr1@yahoo.com. Thanks!
got call from this number (8007723069) today Feb 7, 2011, claiming to be from the US Census Bureau, leaving a case id of two letter and 5 numbers (length 7), and insisting to only speak to me not even my wife. do not intend to call back, and that number is not listed on the official Census Bureau website.this stinks.
1 800 722 3069 is the number used directly by the Census Bureau for telephone interviewing for the National Survey of College Graduates. If you are being contacted by this number or some other form of contact asking you to reply to that # it is because through census reports or alumni association data the National Science Foundation (Official sponsor of the study) had gathered you or the individual being asked for has received a college degree equivalent to Bachelors OR higher. The primary goal of this study is to provide our young minds statistical data to help them choose a college degree to obtain, and also a field of work to put their degree to use in upon completion.Additionally, the Census Bureau conducts many other surveys/studies other than the Census you complete every 10 years. Just because YOU have never heard of it, does not mean it is false representation or a scam.
Adding yourself to the Do Not Call Registry only affects telemarketers, not official government agencies so this is not going to stop any phone calls/mailings from being sent or directed to you.
I GOT A CALL A FEW DAYS AGO--WANTED MY ADDRESS ETC. SAID THEY WOULD KEEP CALLING TILL I GAVE THEM THE INFO. I KINDLY TOLD THEM TO JUST TAKE MY NAME OFF THEIR LIST & I WOULDN'T BE ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS. SO FAR SO GOOD. I KNEW IT WAS FAKE AS SOON AS THEY STARTED ASKING PERSONAL QUESTIONS.
Good morning, "ILA." It's not fake, it is really the Bureau of Census attempting to do their job on behalf of the National Science Foundation for a legitimate survey. Please do your research before inflating the paranoia levels of the masses. Typing in ALL CAPS makes it seem like you are yelling on the internet. Thank you.
If Obama and the NSA had looked at all my personal data they had collected they would that the person they ask for did not live at the number they called. Remember, BIG GOVT is watching you.
I got a voicemail claiming to be the Census Bureau and saying I should call this number. They gave me a case number. Instead of calling back, I looked up the Census Bureau's actual phone number on their website (where this 800# doesn't show up in a search) and called their real number. They looked up my case number and said it wasn't an actual case number. They searched by my phone number and said I'm not in any current surveys and shouldn't have received any calls. They said I should disregard the call. Conclusion: likely scam.
