Received a call from this number and they left a message to return call to #570-831-1296 #33775 ask for Becky. I never returned call because SS never calls they would send letter first

Got the call today from 1800 775-7802 from a woman named Shelia from Social Security. She said that she needed more information for my income in 2015 as well as my projected income for 2016. She left a message on my machine saying I could call her at 6 am to 3pm in Pennsylvania at extension 31128. When I checked the number with *69 it came from 570 831-1296. This is a scam. I deal with social security and they NEVER call they send a letter. The office where I live and the person who I deal with there said it was a complete scam. We should all report this and have them shut down !!!

This is a legitimate number for a big Social Security data center in Pennsylvania. If you ever mailed paperwork to their data center in PA they may call you if they have questions or need clarification. If you check the 570 area code you'll see it matches the area in which the data center is located.

and again, just because it was legit FOR YOU, does not mean scammers aren't spoofing the number
