I also received an email about an order addressed to someone else. Same pattern... wanted me to buy 2 gift cards and put $250 on each. These people are slick. My radar finally went up before it was too late. They had already ordered something else, but was able to get it cancelled. He had the last item I had bought, and the last 4 digits of my credit card.
I too got an email today about an Amazon purchase. Called the number given on the order. Was told to purchase a Target gift card, give them the number to verify my state. I was at the store with the card in hand when finally my scam radar kicked in. Thank goodness!!
I have reported them to the local police department with phone numbers, and was advised there was nothing they could do regarding phone harassment because they are probably based in India
This number is a scam! They pretended to be Amazon support. First they send you an email with a sales transaction like someone hacked your account and ordered items using it. Their number is then listed on this email ... if you have any questions about this purchase please call etc. That's when they try to get you to pay for things to manage your account that just really doesn't make any sense. They'll even send you another email to look as if they're actually working on your account. It's all a big scam!

I called Citibank's other number and confirmed this was their Consumer Support number. It is legitimate. Processed the information they needed to verify my account. I originally thought it was fraud but it is real.

We receive calls at our place of business from these people every day and they claim to be with Spectrum. It sounds like a call center in India; noisy background noise and each person who calls has a strong accent.

Evidently gets next if kin names from obituaries and calls them all, over and over. Will not say what they are calling about until you give birthdate and ssn of the deceased.
