Statistics Canada calling for wrong person. they may be legit, but at least call for the right person!

Since Statistics Canada's offices have shut down due to COVID-19 they have employees working from home on legitimate surveys (most of which are required by law under the Statistics Act). This is the toll-free # to call back. Often a letter will be mailed to you ahead of time explaining the purpose of the call.

I ignore all (833, 844, 8xx...) type calls. This one left a message saying it was Statistics Canada with a number and reference number to call back to. First time I ever heard of Statistics Canada phoning people unsolicited.

PCI called and left a message on my voice mail looking for a Gary Austin. My name is Mike and I have never met a Gary Austin. These voice mail messages have been coming for the past week. I cant be bothered to waste my time with stupid scammers.

Received 2 calls/voicemails on 10/22/25 from different people at this number claiming to be with Fortitude Assistance and Fortitude Systems re: possible jobs in IT departments. Sounds questionable. I'm not in that industry so makes no sense.
Daily calls, no messages
This number had my name, address, and the amount of money I owed for a medical procedure (but had already paid) and said they were calling to collect it before it went to court. I told her I'd do it online, and low and behold I have already paid it.

Suspected scam. Voice sounded AI and mentioned a noncompliance notice. Stated if notice not received by mail to call this number.
