I Just got a call from 844 801-9993. I didn't answer. Probably a fake IRS call. I get this type of call all the time. They say you owe 2k to 10 k and you better pay or they'll throw you in jail. I haven't called back. If you do talk to someone of this ilk, You can file a complaint with "Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration Hotline" @ 800-366-4484 or go online and get a complaint form from TIGTA Hotline Complaints Unit.
It is Nelnet. The National Education Loan Network. They service dept. of education student loans. If they are calling you they are offering assistance or seeing if you can make payments on your delinquent loans.
Receivd this call on my employer's provided cell phone. I have never given it out to any business for texts or phone calls. This has to be a robo-dialer trying the number. I don't answer unknown calls on this device. (I also haven't had a student loan in about 25 years.)
