So when you are attempting to access a remote system, it could be an Azure system, or a standard Windows Remote Desktop System, the MS validation service is going to call you and ask you to press a button to validate your access. Basically this is way to prove you are a human being trying to access whatever remote system you are accessing. Now if you don't know if you are accessing a remote system or not....well that's an entirely different problem altogether and one that I probably can't help you with. ;-)
Legit all of the way. My employer now uses as of today, 1-31-16, whenever I access email remotely.
My company uses the Microsoft Call Authentication when I have to log into a VDI (remote) and this is the number I answer everyday. (I have to hit the # in order to successfully log in through a Citrix Reciever)
It's legit call from Microsoft. They verify the identity by calling you if you have chosen the call answer for the verification process. You may choose text message if you don't want to receive the call.
It's a legit number from Microsoft and all the 'technical mumbo-jumbo' is 100% correct. I get it occasionally when attempting to log in to Skype for Business. If you're not attempting to access something on your (likely work) computer, someone else is and has the wrong phone number configured.
When I tried to log in to my Patients First account, I had to select either a text or phone verification. This number 855-330-8653 immediately called and a robot requested that I push Pound to verify, which allowed me access to my account. You can go into your settings for whichever account you were trying to access and disable the "two-factor authentication" and you won't have to deal with this.
This number is used for automated calls as part of two part authentication. You log into a site or service on your computer (Citrix) and an automated call is made to the number registered on your account that prompts you to enter a PIN.If you are getting a call from this number and it's an automated prompt for your PIN, then someone has incorrectly added your phone number to their account. If you are getting a call with a live person then another company is spoofing the phone number.
You must be a scammer supporting this number because you even sound like a scammer. This was a scam phone call, I don't use any sort of service like this.
There is a lot of scammers here claiming this is legit.. It's not. I don't use this service. And you posted your post in March but in your writing you said the day was 1-31 as in January.. Scammer.
