Most definitely legit. It IS Microsoft validation used when checking company email remotely. Not a scam. I'm listing 'this as an "event reminder" as drop down menu gives no truly accurate choices.
This is the number used by Microsoft which calls to validate my company access whenever I log on to my e-mail.
It keeps calling me and this time it identified itself as microsoft verification process and asked me to press a number to verify. I'm so sick of scammers doing this crap. The FCC needs to get a handle of this!
It's not a cold call... in Office and other MS software, you provide a phone number for the MFA system to call, the authentication system calls it to get a human response and verify that there is someone at that number who wants access to the account. Not one of those 'your computer has a problem' calls at all.this is in use my my company and I confirm this is legit usage. If you haven't set anything up someone may have mistyped their number or some such.
I thought this would be a solicitation or a robocall, etc. But after finding this post and answering when i got the fourth or fifth call in a row, sure enough, it was legit. 0r it definitely sounded that way, as i was trying to log in to a company network for the first time when i got the calls. It asked me for a "pin number" without warning, which i had, from other company communications. But it didn't give me time to go back and find the number before it gave me the "boot", which was really annoying.
A call from this number is for MFA (multifactor authentication) with Microsoft Office 365 when trying to log in to Microsoft with your account (typically an email address) and is directed to your already known (work) phone number for authentication. If it was not you logging into your account, it may be someone else; unless you don't have an account (work or Microsoft and MFA) then I have no idea.
I recently setup multi-factor-authentication with my company... I started receiving these calls because it wanted to confirm that I was making a valid attempt to access my company network.
Well I bet you couldnt get into email or something on that same day at work because this number is the Multi Factor login verification services from Microsoft. Unless someone else was trying to get into your email account. Either way its legit, and if you block it, you end up blocking yourself out of your microsoft accounts.
