This is one of the numbers I've been getting calls from for a long time, maybe years. though I think some before were 866 numbers so they might change them. they don't leave a message on the machine and I've been told not to answer these kind of calls because they they know they got a real person. This got worse and worse, this and 855-876-5350 were calling all day, starting at 8:15 am, 7 or 8 times till night. Sometimes it would have a fake number and say "Washington DC" or some other place or "survey: (toll free numbers, and surveys aren't covered under the Do Not Call Reg) I thought I had it resolved a few days ago when I learned there is now *60 a lot of the phone companies have, you can dial that and block a number, or last number called. I blocked the 2 numbers that mainly called me and for 3 whole days I had peace! No calls waking me up, no calls every few hours... But, now today, this morning I had 3 calls that hang up and say "unknown caller" and have a long number 41713856195 I googled it and it comes up to a few web pages in Swedish (I put it in Google Translate and it was people asking about this number that was calling them) and... it doesn't work with *60 it doesn't take it as a phone number to block. *69 says they have no info about the last caller. I'm starting to feel uneasy about this like am I being stalked? Personally? It seems like ignoring the calls and them not getting an answer (for years) would stop it,. I don't even know if this is the same ones calling me as the numbers I blocked but seems like it must be. I never got calls from a number like this before. Apparently the ones I blocked knew they were being blocked and set up an unblockable number. It's not illegal to spoof a number on Caller ID unless it's threatening or sexually harrassing, and if no one says anything, hangs up on the machine, it's mainly just annoying. I know, I can get my number changed and unlisted (I don't think this is free) but, seems like if someone wants it they will get it again. They must know my street address (I've been listed in the phone book for all the years I've lived here). I have heard one of the numbers is Midland Credit, and this is a scam place that tries to get you to pay bills that might not be real, or might be from decades agao (or already paid). I don't know who I would have bills with maybe a book club or something from 20+ years ago. Sometimes bill collectors call here looking for someone else, or someone who used to ilve here, but they leave a message and I call back and say that person doesn't live here now. I keep thinking if I just ignore this it will stop at some point...it doesn't seem like anything to get the law, or FBI or something involved in. I'm thinking the next time this long number calls I will answer it and ask who they are and what do they want, and say I'm trying to find out so I can report them to the Attorney General's office...
I get three calls a day. All hang ups. They don't leave messages on my answering machine.
Debt collector calling for someone with similar name to mine. If they call back, I will report them.
It's a collection agency, they asked for someone with a name very close to mine. I told them they have the wrong person. If they call back I will report them.
Susan...If you are going to report these xxx-holes, then document the date and time of the calls, and the names of any individuals you speak to, and also make note of any additional information pertaining to the calls...If you don't own the debt they claim you owe, and they keep calling you after you've told them so, and they keep calling - though I'm not a lawyer, I would say it's a case of harassment at that point...I agree with Alfalfa - don't post phone numbers here - your own or that of another person...
This company call from morning to as late as 10:00 at nite. They need to stop. I will not answer. I just mute the phone
