They are the rudest ever! I have never felt so offended in my life, by someone trying to collect a debt. They also contacted me DEMANDING the full amount, when I tried to arrange payment arrangements they said they couldn't work with me and hung up on me. They really need to brush up on their customer service skills, They made the situation worst, I REALLY don't want to pay them now. I have contacted a lawyer because I know that they have cross the line, and I want legal advice on how to deal with them.

It is true dbt collectors can be rude but so are dbtrs. I a collector has a wrong number definately call them be prepared for them to be suspicious about you possibly being the dbtr but in the end we are vetting the people to make sure it is not the dbtr trying to skate on a legitimate dbt.

99% of the time the number is being called because that was either the dbtrs previous phone number or the phone number was the number of a dbtrs reference. You realize if collectors didnt collect on outstanding dbts we would be looking at interest rates in the 35 and 45% range. Believe it or not, buying your sons and daughters the latest mall fashions is not up to the rest of us. Credit Cards are not free money and yes money changes hands from the bank to store. It is unfair to characterize us that way. I call people and allow them to pay as little as .30 or .40 cents on a dollar to pay off their bill. Im not required to. Be direct with a collector dont lie . Dont pick up the phone and just breath in it like Jack the Ripper, be as direct as you were when you called the bank to ask for the money. You know like telling them you would work 5 jobs if you had to.

I received a call from someone named Damian at North Star stating this was an attempt to collect a debt. I don't have any outstanding bills so I called the number and they said they were trying to reach someone who has a similar name to me, I told them they had the wrong number and then they asked if this person was my brother. I told them that I don't know anyone by that name and I asked how they got my number and they said it was listed as a reference. When I started to freak out, the woman said "Is this a problem" and I said "Yes it is. Someone I don't know is listing my number as a point of contact" and then she said "Oh maybe it has to do with your names being similar". I don't even know what that is supposed to mean. I asked them to remove my number but I think I may file a complaint as well becaue I am very freaked out about this whole thing.

These people are so obnoxious. I'm ready to file a BBB! My "Mom" is nearly 90. I was adopted. She lives with my Sister in another town, yet these clowns always call here. Left a message this afternoon saying she owes them (got her last name wrong to boot).I called back & there was a mean old goat who needs to take a course in Customer Service. I tried to explain that I don't have any of her papers here, my Sister does. Claims he'll take my name off their list & hangs up. This is not right. Will continue to investigate this invasion of my privacy.
