This is most certainly a scam. I decided to call my actual bank and there was nothing found as fraudulent on my card. I always decide to call the number on the back of my card instead of responding to these phone calls.
"CITI" fraud just called and gave this number as call back for Direct Line
Just received a call from them. They left a message that they were City Early Fraud Dept. To call them back. I called back and it asked for the last four of my Bank or Debit card... I don't have one. I only have a Credit Card with City. I put the last 4 of my Credit Card, nothing found. I hung up and called the 800 on the back of my card. They reviewed my account and said nothing fraudulant was showing on my account. That the call was probably a scam and do not call them back again. I can't help but agree. Don't call them back!!
I received a call, and a message was left from "the Citibank Fraud Early Warning" to confirm recent activity on my Citibank M/C. I was asked to have my number available when I called back. I checked my accounts and called account services using the number on the Citibank website. The account rep called their fraud dept, using a different number, to check whether they had called, and no they had not.
I recevied a voicemail message on my cell from this number - they claimed to be Citibank Early Fraud Detection Department. However, when I called the Citi number that I usually call for Citibank customer service, the Citi representative told me that they did not recognize that number as being a Citi phone number, and not to call it and give any personal information to the person that answered the phone claiming to be a Citibank representative. So Beware of these fraudulent callers claiming to be your bank. Instead call the Federal Trade Commission and notify them that this number is calling you and trying to defraud you of your personal information. Hopefully they can stop these criminals.
I received a call from this number and thought it was fishy, because like another person on this string, they said they were Citibank Fraud Services and I should have my card number handy when I called. I decided not to call the number left on my voicemail, but instead the service number on the back of my card.It turns out, there was actually fraudulent activity on my card. I asked the Citi operator if he could confirm that the number left on my voicemail was indeed Fraud Services. He said he wasn't sure if that was the department's number based on the last few digits, but it was definitely a Citi number. My recommendation is if you get a call from this number, call Citi just to check if something happened on your account. But call the number on your credit/debit card, not the number left on your voicemail.
the number is legit.I got a message after I logged in my citibank account, saying that there were unusual activities and asked me to call this number. I got a letter from citibank saying the same thing too. when I called, they were able to list out the transactions I made and verify with me.hope this helps.
Got a call from this number, called the number on the back of my card instead, and it turned out that Citi did in fact have questions for me -- was legit.
Message from Citibank Fraud Detection - It is valid. I did as many others reporting these calls have done. I called the number on the back of my card. I was passed to the department that had called. There were no fraudulent transactions, as yet, but I was told my card had been compromised. I find this hard to believe as I do not make any purchases on my debit card. I only use my card exclusively at Citibank ATM machines. It may have been the machine had a device on it, or I passed by some one who was carrying one of those devices that read the data on your card. In any event I am happy that Citibank takes an aggressive approach to detecting fraud.
