I was trying to log into my Chase account and I opted to receive a text with an 8 digit code. The code was never sent. 3-4 times I tried this. Finally I tried it with voice and they called twice but no one or no recording was heard. Then without hitting the button, I received a 3rd call with an 8 digit code and this number if there is an error. The code did not work so I called the number. I felt like it was a scam so I the number on the back of my card and they couldn't verify anything if it was a scam or not. I thought that was weird so I called back on another number and I supposedly got the 1st person I called. Not sure if it's a scam or not but if it's a fraud, they are very sophisticated. They knew my last 3 transactions.

Hello, I've taken the time to reply out of genuine concern for others. Just to be clear, this message is a reply to those people who have comments about 1-866-355-3744. Although, I received a call from 1-877-242-7327 with a message including 1-866-355-3744 in it. I'm guessing that all of you have something in common. That is you all have a Chase credit card account. Imagine the following. Someone is trying to access your account information online. This person has your User ID and Password and they login successfully. However, the Chase server doesn't recognize the PC that the user has logged in from. Do you want Chase to grant access or not? Perhaps you do if this person is you. Perhaps Chase wants to be cautious. If it is you trying to gain access, there must be a way to proceed. So Chase presents you with your phone number or email address (partially blocked out) to which they can send an authorization code for you to use to proceed. If you were the person trying to access your account, you'd expect a phone call or email message. Now Imagine that this person trying to get access is an unauthorized person. If they've made the request for the authorization number, they shouldn't get it because you would be called with that authorization number; but you wouldn't expect the call, would you? When you hear a message providing an authorization number to access your account which you didn't request, wouldn't you want to hear what you should do about it? Would you be concerned yet? I certainly would be. So, Chase tells you to please call 1-866-355-3744 if you didn't request this authorization number. I tried to access my Chase account from a PC I hadn't used before. I requested the authorization code by phone and within a minute I received the automated message with the authorization code. I used the code to access my account. Now do you still think this is a scam? I'd think twice before assuming something like this is a scam in the future. If you don't want to call the phone number the message provides, at least call the Chase phone number on the back of your credit card and report the attempted account access. This should at least prompt you to consider changing your online User ID and/or Password.Sincerely, Scott

We got a phone call, supposedly from Chase bank, at 4:49 AM, giving us an activation code. The call woke up the whole house. When I called the number they left, 866-355-3744, they requested my social security number or my credit card number. I did not give it to them. I called Chase directly, and they said:1. It was against federal law to call at 4:49 am2. They did not recognize the phone number 866-355-37443. They had no record in our account of a call giving us an activation code

I too received a call giving me an authorization code, and if I had not requested the code to call 866-355-3744. I had not requested an authorization code, so I called the number and was told I had reached Chase's Loss Prevention Office, but that the voice mail I received gave the wrong telephone number. The Loss Prevention employee said he would transfer me to the correct department. I was put on hold, but it seemed suspicious, so I hung up the phone and called Chase using the number on my credit card. I was transfered to Security. Security told me Chase had left the message for me, and they wanted to confirm some recent activity on my card (from earlier that day). I confirmed the transactions and that was that. If you are suspicious I would recommend calling Chase using the number on your statement to verify that the voice mail is authentic.

I agree with Scott. I think this is a legitimate call.I remember coming across these posts before when looking up a number that showed up on my mother's caller id. I was logging onto the Chase website after reinstalling Windows on my computer and was told that my computer was not recognized and to ask for a confirmation code to be delivered by phone, text or email. I requested a confirmation code by phone.I had requested the code, so I know the call was legitimate. I got the call probably 30 seconds after requesting the code be delivered to me by phone. I normally stop listening after getting my code, but I listened to the rest of the message and wrote down the number at the end of the message in order to google it. If you did not request the code, then, as Scott suggested, perhaps someone else is trying to log in to your account. If I got a call like this and had not requested the code, I would call my bank at the number on my atm card, or at the "Contact Us" number listed on the Chase website. And then, I would probably change my login password too.

Received one of these calls with an access number. My guess is someone typo'd the phone number or account number since I closed my Chase account over a year ago. Called a Chase number from an old statement and they said they were aware of the number and what it is used for. Transfered me but I elected not to hold on the line since they also confirmed my account is closed.
