This is a legitimate call from CVS Caremark, a mail order prescription service. They are calling to confirm a prescription they received from your doctor.

This is in regard to calls on my cell phone from CVS PHARMACY which is a RECORDED MESSAGE.The ladies voice very loud and plain says" This is CVS pharmacy" Dial 1-866-730-7569, AND VERY LOW SOMETHING ABOUT AND EXTENSION , 6116735 I have tried several times to return this call and ALWAYS GET "THANK YOU FOR RETURNING MY CALL"SORRY, I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER YOU ARE CALLING FROM, PLEASE TRY AGAIN."I have been over this calls for days without success.I have lost my cell phone this morning, so any more calls need to be on my home phone.SUGGESTION-------HAVE A NEW MESSAGE WHERE YOU CAN TALK TO A LIVE VOICE.!!!! and talk LOUD SOPEOPLE WITH HEARING PROBLEMS CAN RESPOND.

I did an Internet check that tells me that there are now four toll-free prefixes: 800, 866, 877, and 888. So I was willing to phone this number. I had the same experience as Harold above. I kept providing the requested information several times & the 'voice' kept asking me to repeat the same thing. I finally hung up. As Grace B. said above, I did have a prescription that my doctor phoned to CVS. And I picked up that prescription yesterday. I received this call/message yesterday before I picked up my CVS prescription but did not return the MULTIPLE calls. And I just hung up from my unsuccessful call to the number. As Harold advises CVS -- CVS should get a clear and appropriate message.

On the back of your CVS card is a toll-free customer service number. Call that number and explain why you're calling: possibly about a new prescription or prescription refill. Hopefully, they can help you out that way.And, tell them that their 866-number Caller ID should say "CVS Pharmacy" and perhaps more people would answer their phone!

After much difficulty we were directed to this web site . . . Thank goodness we were able to read the notes presented. We have just experienced the same situation as indicated above, We have called and left a complaint with CVS caremark . . . Hopefully they will correct this situation. Apparently, when Caremark receives a new prescription they are required by law to call and confirm with the person that they - the person - want the prescription delivered..... We look forward to Caremark's prompt action to correct this extremely poor telephone message. A voice that speaks slowly, enunciates clearly, with enough volume for the hard of hearing is needed and would be greatly appreciated. We all will see . . . .

It is CVS CAREMARK' s number. They want you to verify and approve the prescriptions sent by your doctor.866-730-7569- extension 3424190 They should identify it as CVS CAREMARK instead of 800 Service.

As others have mentioned, CVS/Caremark needs to fix the confusing situation with their CID and identify themselves to their customers, give a message which is clearly articulated & fully comprehensible and, if they leave a number, make it an operable one which doesn't waste everyone's timeAre they required to cloak themselves in such byzantine secrecy because of the idiotically overzealous government restrictions supposedly mandated by patient privacy protection legislation (HIPAA)?Whatever the case, it's ridiculous for CVS/Caremark to continue to cultivate so much unnecessary confusion with their telephone notification system, particularly since their customers are going to be for the most part elderly &/or infirm. And if CVS's confusing opacity here is required for the company to conform to HIPAA's legal restrictions, the clueless fools in Congress & the Administration should stop making our lives so much more difficult under the pretext of making our lives better. Their misguided, over-reaching 'solutions' are always worse than the problems they're supposedly trying to fix!
