This is the "Recovery" or "Internal Recovery" division of Bank of America. They do not answer the phone as Bank of America, however if you have have any credit cards or debts owed to them, that's probably why they are calling.
Mr. Dcap, this is a collection agency not bank of america, it answers as New Jersey Collections. If in fact it was a real B of A associated business matter and you have do have real business with B of A, call the number on the reverse of the credit card or letter head from your real B of A correspondence.I know Bank of America credit people and they don't have to hide behind half truths and badly placed responses. If the BANK of AMERICA wants you they send you a letter, not a phone call at 2:30 AM in the morning.Remember people, document the times and the calls, and if you do owe them money don't kill yourself trying to pay down the debt, it won't matter how hard you tried. It will end up the same, your credit score will go down, but the money you didn't throw at a bad debt will help better than a "High" credit score.
I'm betting Dcap works for the collection company! These scumbags have nothing to do with B of A. They simply bought a list of bad debt from them and paid 10 cents on the dollar. Their goal is to intimidate as many people as they can into believing they must pay money to them. Truth is once they buy the debt your credit is already damaged as much as it possibly can be. They have no contract with you so they can not do any further damage to your credit. They lie, they threaten, and they harass, but they have no legal claim so do not give in. Once these dregs of the earth stop making money this way they will stop buying those lists. You have a right to send a complaint to your state's Department of Consumer Affairs if they persist to the point of harassment. If B of A really wanted to collect the money they would be the ones calling you to set up a payment plan. Think about it!
I do not work for any collections company - this is the Internal Recovery Unit of Bank of America - they answer as FIA Credit Services. If you owe money to Bank of America - they send past due accounts to this group before they send it officially to collections. This DOES NOT MEAN that someone hasn't hijacked the number to show on your Caller ID - I have had several fake calls whose Caller ID showed legitimate numbers that when you call them back will take you to legitimate call in lines for Discover, Visa, etc. If you are not sure, ask them for written verification of your debt. They MUST send you a notification by US Mail within 72 hours. Having said this, I have worked with them to pay down a credit card for the last several years and they have always been professional and courteous.
If this is a real unit/ part of B of A, and I have a payment plan in place through October.2015, then why did b/a write this off as uncollectable and report it to the credit agencies? I am definitely pissed and confused!
You just happened to google your moms work number and report it as safe ugh? Sound legit, we all do that right?
